Deleo drops their new single titled ‘Mythomania’ on June 19, 2020. By the first listen it is apparent that Deleo has that certain something where they can show that they’ve not only found their sound; they’ve crafted it. And crafted it in such a way that they are recognizable within those first few precious notes; within the timespan, it takes to grab the attention of even the most casual of listeners.
‘Mythomania’ has that beautiful hook that forces one to hit the quick rewind a few times just to recapture that initial ‘aha’ moment. There is nothing more perfect than to be introduced to a band or artist with such a track.

ABOUT DELEO & ‘MYTHOMANIA’
After the tantalizing foretaste of the toxic ballad ‘Unfair’, Deleo continues to distill the fruits of its 4-track EP with a new teaser in anticipation of the EP’s release. This time, with ‘Mythomania’, the Montpellier-based group reveals a more prickly and Rock side to its sweet poison.
The track begins innocently enough: a simple Folk guitar rends the air – I wouldn’t say ‘vulnerable’ since it’s a bit fast, a bit tense, but subtly – and then a few seconds later, a futurist city suddenly appears and you’re like rats. Watch out if you’re in the front row seats! Rats, but as lovely as the sounds of the dolphins in The Big Blue soundtrack by Eric Serra. Dolphins, but like androids that dream of electric sheep. Industrial dreams, tubular bells, and layering inspired by Archive’s Londinium, the dystopia of Blade Runner and The Fifth Element are all there. When it reaches the bridge, it all suddenly stops in the space of an instant: hypnotic, something expands naggingly and creepily like Radiohead’s ‘Dollars and Cents’. An impression of overlooking the underworld of Gotham or Dark City. With Emy Eris, the fire dragon and Daenerys, who spreads her wings with the passion of youth.
Yes, this new song by Deleo is a veritable short film. A tricky single – but what an experience and what a cliffhanger at the end! Once again, the maestro of British producers James Sanger (Suede, Dido, Keane, The Cure, Manic Street Preachers, etc.) had a lot to do with it.
With this second single, Deleo shows its Rock influences. It makes defining their music elusive while it is still firmly Pop. The reason for this? The band doesn’t know either! Far from being binary, they have multiple facets that sparkle like a gem. Corporeal yet radiant.

Jammerzine’s The Week in #Indie for 6/13/2022
Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Kitty Coen plus the premiere of her new single titled ‘rotten tomatoes’. Also an interview with Bulgaria’s Lunikk plus the premiere of their new video ‘Speechless’. Also an exclusive interview with The Redlines as well as premieres and new music from POESY, Pitou, The Wrecks, Darion Harris, Dan Bauer, and The Erly.
About Kitty Coen
Kitty Coen has an exclusive interview with Jammerzine and has also officially premiered her new single titled ‘rotten tomatoes’, which dropped June 10th (2022).
Kitty is an artist that, quite frankly, will be mentioned very frequently for not only her songwriting but her performance and signature sound. She is, in every sense of the word, a brand. She gets it too. This is what you need to make it in the music industry. That’s how you become memorable.
And within that brand that is all things Kitty Coen, we get a glimpse of her influences, both musical and in life, and we get them wrapped up in her own music.
And, in this interview, we talk with Kitty about said music and the process of creating it. We also dive deep into that rabbit hole of the self and psyche and realize that she is just as creative, humble, and good a person as she is in music. This is a lesson on making it big.

Lunikk has released their new video and single titled ‘Speechless‘, from their upcoming album ‘Unreal City’, releasing June 10th. Ahead of that, we get not only a premiere of said video, we get an exclusive interview from a purely dynamic duo that, in my opinion, is one of the faces of the future of #indie music.
‘Speechless’ conveys that part of us all that we almost never convey but always dwell on. A slow builder to the soul with a crescendo that is classic sounding with a modern feel. Lunikk is a band that I am a personal fan of, so I may be a bit bias. But, take into account the amount of new music I listen to, I can honestly say that this is a band I seek out when I want to chill at home or need a soundtrack for my thoughts.

Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Brian Seese and Tony Vinski from The Redlines. Having released their new EP titled ‘Kick Out Today’, the band are rapidly showing their signature sound and originality among the music masses.
With a nod to the guitar rock and rock legends of the past with an eye clearly on the future, it’s hard not to acknowledge that the four member, six string concept is alive and well.
In this interview we talk with Brian and Tony about that sound and ‘Kick Out Today’, as well as what’s coming up and more.

POESY has today unleashed her new video for the track titled ‘Multiply’. After getting over that killer electronic bass line, I was astonished by the voice that POESY possesses, or possesses her. New fan, right here. The power and angst conveyed in each signature note is something you have to hear to believe. I can’t explain it. And she fits this song and video perfectly.
POESY is not an artist, she is a universe. You get placed into another world listening to her music. Video aside, this is world building. The video is a guide for those who do not get what I just said. A film-score to a soundtrack. Let this become a part of you, so you can become a part of it.

https://twitter.com/poesyofficialAbout Pitou
Pitou has released her new video and single titled ‘Big Tear’. the first thing you will notice is that Pitou is a singer that feels the lyrics. Knows the song on a deeper level. Embraces it with that same emotion she cultivated when she wrote it. She becomes the music. She is the song. This is that initial carry-away with I get. But, you must remember that first hook that brought you to the play button. The song is that good.
The marriage between musician and music that works perfectly. You don’t move on after a few notes. You can’t fudge the slider around trying to find the hook. The song IS the hook. And that hook has you. The audio equivalent of a David Lynch film. The cool kids all mention him but few remember any film titles. They just heard through the grapevine that he was a good and original director. This is that with the added listen and staying power. Stay a while longer.

The Wrecks have released their new album titled ‘Sonder’. After reviewing their single ‘Lone Survivor‘, I thought I had this band pegged. I thought I had them figured out. Now I look like an @$$hole. I really really do. But, that’s ok. There is much more here. Much under the surface. Right now there is an iceberg named Sonder and I just heard the 80% under the surface.
The intricacies within each of the songs delivers a lot more than expected. The little things like an inflection, a guitar note or riff, so on. It’s the details like that where you can really tell if a band cares about their music.
And, while ‘Sonder’ has that ‘polished’ sound, it fits. Like a glove. It’s signature.

Darion Harris has released his new single titled ‘Don Juan’. Blending the line between fantasy and reality, Harlem-raised producer and artist Darion Harris seeks to encapsulate a world where fairytales and real-life merge together. His newest offering, ‘Don Juan’ is just an introduction to the playful and exhilarating world of Darion that is yet to be explored.
Currently charting on the Spotify Viral Chart in South Africa with his recent release ‘Mitsubishi Dreams’, ‘Don Juan’ is a track that reflects on Darion’s recent success and boasts newfound confidence. From the visuals to the production and adlibs, ‘Don Juan’ is nothing short of an intense burst of compelling energy. The buoyant yet braggadocious lyrics see Darion deliver witty punchlines over the busy self-produced beat that radiates influences from video game soundtracks. Working in collaboration with Evander Griiim (protégé of Gucci Mane) on a track had always been a dream for Darion Harris, and so this collaborative piece of work further yet validates Darion’s cocky persona throughout this track.

Dan Bauer is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter hailing from New Hampshire. His quirky, soul-searching video single, ‘U.G.L.Y.’ is out now.
We are hooked in by the visuals instantaneously, as the artist can be seen stomping on a bag sharpied with the word ‘drama’. Lamenting statements such as ‘Can’t see why I can’t be….Happy’ is a big tell that the main character is feeling something quite contrary to what he’s showing.
Musically, Bauer displays moments of sensitive falsetto, which are then contrasted by upbeat percussion. According to the artist, the goal of this release is to juxtapose and contrast against his most recent album, The After Life, which has a more traditional set-up of electric guitar/bass/vocals/acoustic guitar/piano. The instrumentation of U.G.L.Y includes ‘acoustic guitar, drums, hand claps, synth sweeps, a funky bassline, piano, a staccato strings solo, and varied backing vocals’.

The Erly have released their new single titled ‘You’re Heaven’. Sindependent with the goal being soul, The Erly bash and pop the best of the rhythm into an original cacophony of soul-funk with enough stank and attitude to become a part of your personal groove.
Take what you will from this, but you will remember that this is a party coming from your speakers. And, if your listening through earbuds, you need to punch yourself in the grill because who goes to a f*cking party wearing earbuds. Yes folks, this is that song.

Danish indie/electronic music Trentemøller may be one of the most diverse people in the music industry. With a career spanning over two decades and literally hundreds of credits cross-hopping between albums of many different genres as well as scoring and production work, to say hee is established at this point would be an understatement.
And now we get the next evolution of his revolution in the form of his new album titled ‘Obverse’, which drops today (September 27, 2019). Featuring guest spots by such as Rachel Goswell, Lina Tullgrin, Lisbet Fritze, and Jennylee, ‘Obverse’ is an electronic dreamscape in which each track has its own signature stamp within the collection yet everything seems to fall into place further cementing Trentemøller’s place as a music legend.
And today we get to speak with that legend and get his incite on the music industry as a whole as well as ‘Obverse’ and the magic contained within.

Goodbye Mr MacKenzie achieved notoriety in what I call that magical time in underground music. Before grunge when alternative wasn’t the mainstream and MTV told us exactly how many minutes we were allowed to watch that post-modern independent chic in the form of 120 Minutes.
Through it all Goodbye Mr MacKenzie frontman Martin Metcalfe has seen those stylistic changes in music and has both kept his creative integrity as well as evolved to the beat of his own drum. And while those styles continue to change, Martin continues to reinvent himself with both solo work as well as The Filthy Tongues, among other things.
In this interview, we talk with Martin about his beginnings in Scotland and the rise of Goodbye Mr MacKenzie as well as the release of their inceptual album ‘Good Deeds and Dirty Rags’ and reunion shows and much, much more.

This pretty much sums up Songs of Loss, the debut album by A Permanent Shadow, out as of September 20th, 2019. The ten songs on the album take us on a musical journey through the life of its creator. Lyrically the record portrays the lives of personalities that have inspired the author, some of them very close, some of the family, others fictitious. Happy-go-lucky it isn’t, though there are glimpses of hope, such as in the “carpe diem song” Now, the album’s third single after Empty and Fool, released on October 25th, 2019.

Callow Youth dropped their new single titled ‘Red Leather’ along with a stellar remix courtesy of Dave Pemberton. To me, this is a continuation of that remarkable sound that is Callow Youth, with a vivid post-punk alt-rock vibe with catchy choruses that seamlessly blend between raunchy hooks. What we also get is a vividly different take on the song via Mr. Pemberton that give me fond memories in the style of vintage Jesus Jones and even Ned’s Atomic Dustbin but all Callow in nature and execution showing that the band has a vivid penchant for incorporating what they love while retaining who they are. That is the sign of a band that makes lasting music.

Gaunt Story, aka Rob Ashworth, has a unique sound which is evident in his new single titled ‘Scattered Solace’. As the title suggests, this is a song hard to place into a genre. It’s definitely all indie, but there is much more going on. The guitars, to me, really stand out as there is a wonderful combination of acoustic strum and electric ‘noodling’ going on in a way I would have never guessed but perfectly fits. Rob’s vocals are another standout as he sings with an original blend of melancholy and experience.

Sløtface has officially dropped their lyric video for the track titled ‘Sink or Swim’. Addressing the very real issue of climate change in such a way puts a face on the issue that needs to be recognized. Music is the perfect way to do that because it puts the issue in the subconscious in a way that only music can do. Sløtface does this in a way that is filled with class and lacking in self-promotion with a lush song filling out the meaningful lyrics amid disturbing visuals of the toll we’ve given our home planet and have yet to pay ourselves, making this video a wake-up call.

An Exclusive Interview With Miss Cantaloupe (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Miss Cantaloupe front-woman Christina Klaproth, aka Princess. What I love, because I was pleasantly surprised, about this interview is the sheer and vivid imagination behind this band of visual virtuosos is the lush and clear world created around the music of Miss Cantaloupe. It’s, how should I say, Cantaloupian.
And, with that said, you too can get a glimpse of this and the music with this exclusive interview with Christina where she discusses the minds behind the music, the vision, the new and upcoming music, and how it all comes together.
We also get a first look at Miss Cantaloupe’s new video for the track titled ‘Sunshine Daydream’. Filmed before the lockdown, ‘Sunshine Daydream’ shows how things will be again with a bright and beautiful travelogue that fits the gorgeous and wonderfully personal video that captures that easygoing and forward-reaching music that is Miss Cantaloupe with a broad array of musical instruments underlying and surrounding that angelic vocal track that is signature.
