Americana is where the song is king – a broad genre that encompasses country, alt-country, and rock –and it is here that Good Will Remedy find themselves at home.
With a long history in the local and national music scene and a C.V that includes Brisbane legends Pharaoh’s Playground and BUZZkillers – Good Will Remedy are a band awash with strong songwriting and performance craft with an honest southern fried feel tinged with alt Countryesque Americana styling.
Following on from their well-received debut album, GWR have released their second album Silver Lined – launching the album to a packed house at iconic Brisbane venue Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall in May.
Lead Singer Will Lebihan suggests that “the strength of the songs allows quite a bit of flexibility performance wise -we work hard to ensure that the song remains king – the other flashy stuff can come later – if at all!”
That flexibility in performance has seen GWR perform on larger stages in full band mode as well as smaller more intimate venues in a more stripped back format – no matter which way it comes, the crowds continue to grow and word continues to spread – but the song remains king – and so it should!

Marty Casey – Anything You Want
Chicago Rock Artist Marty Casey has released the official music video for “Anything You Want,” off of his 2017 released debut album, The Ground You Walk On. “Anything You Want” was directed by Mike Leber and was co-written with Andrew Farriss (INXS).
Since the time Marty Casey shot to fame as a runnerup on hit CBS reality TV show Rockstar: INXS, his brand of rock ‘n roll has been ever evolving. Former L.A. Guns bandmate Tracii Guns describes Marty as “a charismatic frontman with a golden voice, incredible drive, and impeccable songwriting skills,” Marty’s long and winding journey as a musician has led him to this moment: releasing his debut solo album, The Ground You Walk On, in 2017.
Marty met two of his future bandmates while playing on a little league baseball team in their Chicago hometown at age eight. That band became the beloved Chicago rock group the Lovehammers. True to their Chicago roots, the band’s second EP was produced by legendary producer and Chicago native Steve Albini (Nirvana, PJ Harvey, the Pixies, & more). While on tour with the Lovehammers, Marty auditioned for and was ultimately asked to join Rockstar: INXS.
Although the show’s top prize – a gig as frontman for INXS – eluded him, the buzz Marty created as the runnerup on the 2005 reality show crescendoed to a fullon career of songwriting, touring, and recording when the Lovehammers were signed to Epic Records. He continued to blaze new trails with his powerfully electrifying performances: first, with the Lovehammers; then, as the lead singer of L.A. Guns, one of the hardest rocking and most notorious bands to come off the Sunset Strip; and now, in 2017, as a solo artist.
In order to solidify his own sound, Marty worked with renowned producer Marti Frederiksen on his debut solo album. Marti — who has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Bon Jovi, and countless others — recorded with Marty at the historic Quadraphonic Sound Studios in Nashville.
While ushering in a new era in his musical career, Marty’s upcoming release also subtly hints back to his rock ‘n roll reality show days. One track on the new album called “Anything You Want,” was created during the filming of Rockstar: INXS, and was written by Marti Frederiksen and INXS’ Andrew Farriss. Other cowriters on The Ground You Walk On include former American Idol judge and esteemed songwriter Kara DioGuardi, as well as country music hit-maker Gary Allen.
With The Ground You Walk On, Marty’s songs build on his rich musical journey and express his exuberance for life. Marty explains, “I had been playing with a band since I was a teenager. I wanted to spread my wings for a moment and record these songs that I had in my head for the last few years.” Marty goes on to express his sentiment that these songs are about the experiences of the past building us up to who we are today. Marty Casey’s solo album was released in the spring of 2017.
“The song ‘Anything You Want’ was written with INXS’ Andrew Farriss when I was auditioning to be a member of INXS. The song has an intense energy and makes you move! We wanted to capture that vitality in the video. My wife (Daniella Casey) is a dance instructor so she rallied up her troops and the vibe they brought is straight-up INCREDIBLE!!! The director (Mike Leber) took the visual over the top with color and movement. This video is a fun burst of energy that gets you on your feet as the girls knock you off em!!”

Crooked Ghost – Sleepwalker
Dreamy post-punk rockers Crooked Ghost have announced that their new album ‘Skeleton House’ will be released on CD on November 23, followed by a limited edition 12″ vinyl release in February 2019. Ahead of this, the Asheville, NC outfit presents their ‘Sleepwalker’ single, accompanied by a video, directed by Rome Widenhouse.
“Skeleton House’ is the band’s sophomore long-play – a dark and hazy dreamscape of lush and angular melody, with a stark lyrical rawness touching upon such subjects as addiction, trauma, loss, superstition, and everything that gets left behind after a catastrophic event. The album consists of eight tracks, ranging from dreamy and playful to anguished and harrowing. Billowing vocal patterns weave intricate stories between shimmering guitar crescendos, cascading synths, and mathematical percussion.
This album follows up their debut LP ‘Strange Burial Rituals’, released in March 2017. This new offering has two distinct halves: the first is lighter, the second darker. The whole thing plays out like a story, or rather, two opposite stories that are intertwined.
“The song ‘Sleepwalker’ was one of the first written for the new album, and everything about it just worked. The song itself is in reference to addiction and a dissolution of one’s sense of self; self-medicating and numbness. I wanted to bring light to something dark, yet still tell an honest story. Something about this song has always stood out for us, says frontman Ray Clark.
“The music video was shot by Rome Widenhouse over a period of several weeks and includes shots of that eclipse everyone was so excited about. The video is a bit surreal and has a sort of Twin Peaks meets the X-Files vibe. It was a lot of fun to shoot, even the traipsing barefoot through the woods in nothing but a bedsheet and getting poison ivy part. At one point our director took a tumble down a cliffside and we thought he was done for!”
Formed in Seattle in 2013 as an acoustic side project by Ray Clark, Crooked Ghost was initially a channel for leftover songs that didn’t seem to fit in any of the other bands Clark was involved in, but quickly became the focal point of Ray’s creative energy. Ray soon fled the musically-saturated Seattle scene to find himself in the intensely creative heart of Asheville, North Carolina.
With a guitar case full of lyrics of songs never intended to be heard by anyone, somehow, something had begun to spark again. Intimidated by the idea of a solo project, Ray joined with Chris Saldin, who would play bass, and bought an electric guitar, set on bringing Crooked Ghost to life. Together with drummer Jon Wyatt, the songs came to life. A few months later, they entered the studio to record their debut album.
They were eventually joined by Charles Reed on guitar and Alex Cannon on keyboards before recording the heavily emotive and dreamily lush ‘Skeleton House’. With the power-pop punch of Catch Fire, the dark-disco punk breakdown of Roadkill, to the angular yet dreamy swoon of Sleepwalker, Skeleton House will impress and even haunt you.
“These songs were inspired by the loss of someone I loved to a fire. The idea that something like a fire could destroy so much, but still leave something behind was so enticing to me. I wanted these songs to represent resilience and strength, and to be able to process loss in a healthy way. I wanted to find a way to bring light to the darker things I was experiencing, and to arrange the pieces into something beautiful,” says Ray Clark.
“We recorded this album up in Black Mountain, NC in the dead of winter. The snowy and icy landscape definitely added to the album’s atmosphere. This is also our first release on vinyl, making it very special for all of us. As kaleidoscopic as it sounds, I feel we very much achieved the piece of art we were wanting to make.”
As of November 23, ‘Skeleton House’ will be available on CD. It can already be ordered via Bandcamp and is also available across music stores and streaming platforms such as iTunes and Spotify.

Romancer – Nausicaa
Romancer is a four-piece Ambient Punk-Rock band that comes from Kitchener Ontario, Canada. Combined with members with incredible musical talents, Romancer has one goal; to bring the fans a sound that toes the line between soft intimacy and explosive aggressiveness.
Currently, this bunch of humble guys is ramping up to the release of their new project “honeybee” – their second and latest release as Romancer. “Honeybee is our most lyrically honest, and experimental release to date. I am so proud of us this time around, and I can say with confidence that we’ve all reached into the depths of our musicality and creativity to bring out the best in each other and this record” says Romancer lead vocalist/guitarist Adam Horrocks. The band released their debut EP “As We Both Close in on the Water” last year on June 10, 2016.
Shortly after the band released the record, it quickly gained the likes of fans in numerous markets across Canada, USA, Europe, Mexico, and Japan. Their track “Fireworks” had been featured on a compilation CD that was released via LA punk label Wiretap Records shortly after the release of their debut LP. FFO: Jimmy Eat World, Alexisonfire, Brand New & Moneen, this is surely one well-written and engaging record, and will stimulate from beginning to end.
Frequently touring, the band’s fanbase keeps growing in current and new markets. 2017 is set for the release of “honeybee,” a new music video and two tours, one being through eastern Canada.
Romancer is Nathan Cumber, Ben Abu Halaga-Dilgert, Adam Horrocks and Riley O’Donnell.
