Wolfhounds Premieres ‘Can’t See The Light’ Video (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Wolfhounds drop their new video for the track titled ‘Can’t See The Light’. Trippy and psychedelic in all the right places, ‘Can’t See The Light’ gives the guitars a chance to fight each other over a steady/strong bassline and thumpy percussion, while the vocals act as the ringleader in this psycho-circus of music. Let the video act as a Rorschach test for your musical preferences.
‘Can’t See The Light’ is available everywhere, including Apple Music, Spotify, and Bandcamp.

London-based C86 legends Wolfhounds have announced their new album ‘Electric Music’, set for release on July 3 via A Turntable Friend Records. Ahead of this, they present a lead single ‘Can’t See the Light’, a powerful track that opens fire on side one of the forthcoming record with captivating video by David Janes.
“Musically, ‘Can’t See The Light’ has a discordant guitar line – perhaps carrying echoes of John Barry’s The Persuaders theme – until it reaches a desperate crescendo; this feeling is captured brilliantly by David Janes’ claustrophobic and darkly psychedelic video,” says Wolfhounds’ frontman David Callahan.
A spitball of melancholy fury, this is an explosive tune about how anger turns inward after the low expectations of a country’s myriad self-defined gatekeepers have crippled the ambitions of those who want change for the better. With a bass-heavy rush, ‘Can’t See The Light’ builds desperately to a semi-tonal release of noise, sounding simultaneously claustrophobic and liberating.
“All tunnels eventually emerge into the sun (as David Janes’ accompanying paranoid and sick-a-delic video shows) but while you’re underground it can seem like darkness is perpetual and inevitable,” says Callahan.
Always ahead of the times, The Wolfhounds have never nailed the spirit of now more succinctly and devastatingly than on this new single and other songs on the new album.
Originally formed as teenagers in 1984, The Wolfhounds released four critically acclaimed LPs before initially disbanding in 1990. By that time, they released music on the legendary and influential C86 cassette via NME, recorded three John Peel sessions for BBC Radio One, and toured the UK and Europe extensively as headliners and as support for My Bloody Valentine, The House of Love and The Wedding Present. The band’s acknowledged and audible influence stretches from Nirvana to the Manic Street Preachers, and all the way to Fontaines DC – but musically they remain ahead of all.
The band reformed in 2006 at the request of St Etienne’s Bob Stanley to celebrate 20 years since the release of C86, and inflicted a severe guitar noisefest on an unsuspecting indiepop crowd at London’s ICA. Since 2012, they have been recording and releasing new material, including ‘Middle Aged Freaks’ (2015) and ‘Untied Kingdom or (How to Come to Terms With Your Culture)’ (2017), repeatedly showing that they can still blow any act half their age offstage. In 2018, Wolfhounds released ‘Hands in the Till – The complete John Peel sessions’, a 12-track album released via A Turntable Friend Records.
The Wolfhounds are back and better than ever with their new ‘Electric Music’ LP – probably their greatest album yet. The band has become truly (hyper-)active again, performing at several pop fests (including Berlin and New York) and stand-up comedian Stewart Lee’s All Tomorrow’s Parties, as well as regular club dates in the UK and Europe. Stewart Lee also wrote the extensive sleevenotes for the record.
The band continues to be more relevant and adventurous than ever and, despite their indie roots, have more in common with the likes of Richard Dawson and Sleaford Mods than their old jangly peers. Electric Music grabs their home country’s woes by the horns and gives them the kicking they deserve!

K Michelle DuBois Premieres ‘Waves Break’ on Jammerzine (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Starting with a sonic mixture reminiscent of both Duran Duran and vintage The Police with a blissfully decedent assault of guitars and bass, K Michelle DuBois delivers an energetic juggernaut in the form of her new single titled ‘Waves Break’. The hook sneaks in like an army invading an unsuspecting country and just never lets up after. This song is pure power in the form of a pop song filled with caffeine and spitting our fire throughout.
As of June 28, 2019, ‘Waves Break’ is available at online stores, such as iTunes, and streaming platforms such as Spotify. Her 2018 ‘Harness’ album can also be obtained directly from the artist via Bandcamp, and her ‘Untold’ collaboration can be found via Lights That Change’s Bandcamp.
About K Michelle DuBois & ‘Waves Break’
Atlanta-based indie pop artist K Michelle DuBois presents an upbeat and fun summer single ‘Waves Break’. This is the first taste of her forthcoming album, which will be released later this year.“We fully went for a surfy new-wave vibe with layers of percussion. Waves Break began with a fascination with fearlessness in people (especially females) who love surfing, skateboarding or any sport where they get beat up and dive right back in,” says K Michelle Dubois.
“The lyrics evolved to be metaphorical as well as staying on topic while blending in double-meaning wordplay – ‘I keep you close to my chest’ and ‘you know where the shark’s prey’. The instrumentation of Waves Break has an early Duran Duran, Bowie, Gang of Four vibes.”
This new single follows up her third solo release ‘Harness’, as well as the singles ‘Wild Weed’, ‘Orchid’ and ‘Love and Only Love’. DuBois also recently collaborated with Wales-based post-punk dreampop artist Lights That Change on the single ‘Untold’.
While most of DuBois’ solo output intertwines classic power-pop with 90s college rock, ‘Harness’ boasts a heftier sonic tone than her previous album ‘Astral Heart’ (2016) with its bouncy rhythms, jangly guitars and sing-song charm.
Based in Atlanta, GA, Dubois’ counts Blondie’s ‘Autoamerican’ and Divinyls among her influences, along with Stevie Nicks, Roxy Music, Flaming Lips, Grandaddy, and Fever Ray. DuBois’s live band includes Chandler Rentz (drums), Jim Prible (bass), André Griffin (keys) and Dan Dixon (guitar), who also recorded, produced and mastered this album at RCDC studio in Atlanta.
K Michelle DuBois got into music very young, building harmonies to pass the time during the family’s frequent road trips. DuBois began writing her own material as a teenager in Nashville after receiving a bass guitar for Christmas. She crafted her early songs on bass, a Yamaha synthesizer and a drum machine in her parents’ four-track studio, but a flood of creative possibilities came upon discovering open-tuning on acoustic guitar, thereafter solidifying her commitment to songwriting.
After forming her first band Ultrababyfat and releasing ‘Silver Tones Smile’ (1998), the group’s infectious pop-punk sound garnered national attention, leading to opening slots for numerous noteworthy acts Pavement and PJ Harvey, and a 2001 stint on The Warped Tour as one of the few female-led bands showcased in the festival’s lineup.
After the band disbanded in 2005, DuBois formed Luigi to explore her more progressive, art-rock leanings. After seven years together and ample critical acclaim, she re-emerged as a solo artist under the tempered guidance of producer Ben Price at Studilaroche, releasing her debut album ‘Lux Capone’ in 2012. DuBois also contributes vocals for Atlanta-based dream-gaze collective Parsons Rocket Project.

Jammerzine’s The Week in #Indie for 6/22/2020
In this episode of ‘The Week in #Indie’ we have video premieres from Bentley Jones and Ask Carol as well as single and album premieres from Bailey Coats, Dives, Lakes, Shawn O’Donnell, The Asteroid No.4, Mile Me Deaf, and The KillerHertz.
About Bentley Jones
Bentley Jones has just dropped his new video titled ‘I Could Be Your Girl’. Bentley is one of those artists that, when he releases something, I quietly think to myself ‘About time…’. I say this because he is a constantly and truly evolving artist. Each release is somewhat of a reinvention of both the artist and the music. This is just as true with ‘I Could Be Your Girl’.
The video is at times hypnotic and captivating yet gives that sense of solace and yearning. A dark longing for love and romantic closeness in a time of social distancing lending to that certain something we all feel at times, especially these times, in that we all need someone. I hear the words ‘Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder’ when I first watched this video and now those words have a meaning to me. This is a message to the world that beauty is more than sexual and sultry; it’s something we all have, and by knowing that you can get the deeper meaning of the music.
To me, Bentley is an artist who deserves everything he’s worked for and worked very hard for. Now entering his tenth year as an artist, he is just as fresh and new as ever and it shows.

Ask Carol have released their new video for the track titled ‘Run With You’. And, with this being their first actual music video, there is no better way to make their visual debut than with the eye candy set forth with ‘Run With You’. Constructed not only as a visual accompaniment to the song but as an artistic statement in of itself, the video gives visual punctuation to the percussiveness of the song while highlighting the hook and becoming almost a canvas for the song to paint on instead of the music becomes a soundtrack. This is essential because, as someone who reviews music every day, is exactly what a music video should be; an introduction to the music.

Beginning as a vocal exercise, Baily starts the song off with a subtle bang of reminiscing of life and love with that message of no other way, sent to us just in time as a pick me up and mental reassurance that is well needed and deserved with the state of things being the way they are.
Featuring a unique duet between the percussive yet melodic vocals versus the staccato beat and lush piano-driven music, ‘No Way Out’ showcases a solid artist at the introduction of her career.

DIVES is set to release their new single titled ‘100 Times’ on June 17, 2020. We get an advanced listen, however, of the suave new track in all of its glory and shimmering originality. The track is a showcase of sorts and a perfect introduction track to what DIVES’ sound is and creativity can bring. The song is a strong blend of solid chord progressions and harmonies that soar and dive in unison causing that inevitable hit of the repeat button.

Lakes drop their new single titled ‘Kids’ featuring Dan Lambton, formerly of Real Friends. Besides being a modern-day guitar juggernaut, ‘Kids’ has that carefree summer feeling that’s awash with the hook and swimming in that aural splendor that gives you a smile as you search for the repeat button because of that magical section you heard that captivated your ears. I love the subtle instrumentation, especially the horn (listen for it), along with the solid rhythm that gives everything that special and precise pronouncement that exclaims ‘I’m here’.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5TizUcJWoPu6QwTZnlsqVAAbout Shawn O’Donnell
Shawn O’Donnell premieres his new single titled ‘Quicksand’ right here on Jammerzine. The first thing you capture at that first listen to the song is Shawn’s nearly perfect and natural voice. And what’s more, is that Shawn has that songwriter’s mentality that knows exactly what not only compliments his voice musically but what music can surround that vocal prowess to become an all-encompassing self-made style that lets the listener in and welcomes them to the next experience of their life.
‘Quicksand’ is a song that is all too aware of itself and, while having that introverted quality found in the best music and art, lets the listener in just enough to share that experience in a way that they feel like a part of the music and, in turn, the music becomes a part of their heart.

The Asteroid No.4 are set to drop their new single titled ‘The After Glow’ tomorrow. In addition to that, however, we get the title track of the upcoming album ‘Northern Songs’ coming out later this summer. And within those two open windows of expression, we get a magnitude of sound both in scope and in vision. Both lush with thick and ‘wall-of-sound’ style guitars from shimmering to that beautiful 12-string and everything in between, The Asteroid No.4 creates a stage for the music and a theater for the mind with what I believe will be an imaginative album.
As of June 19, ‘The After Glow’ is available digitally online, including via Bandcamp and Spotify. The full album ‘Northern Songs’ will be released later this summer.

Mile Me Deaf has released their new album titled ‘Ecco’ via Siluh Records. Featuring a much more synthesized and refined sound, Wolfgang Möstl, the mind behind the music, give that signature sound a kick with a solid set of hooks within the electronic realm and sends out a solid set of tracks each with their own purpose with the love of an artist and the care of a producer.

The Killerhertz has officially dropped their new EP called ‘Innocent Sinners’. Packed with that ‘purrfect’ smooth and thick set of guitar tones most guitarists spend their whole lives seeking, and combine that with valid and thought out songwriting and hook mentoring, and you have The Killerhertz.
Every song is laid out like a well-planned attack. And each band member is solidly in step with each other as the songs vary from moods and manners yet remain true to the original vision capped off with the well-fitting vocals of Thomas Trold.
