French alternative metal quintet Ways have premiered their brand new single and music video for “Death Row”. The single comes from the group’s upcoming record titled, AFTERMATH set to release March 15th.
“We are very excited for everyone to finally see the music video for our first single of our new EP, “Aftermath”, says guitarist, Nicolas Reignier.
With the new album, the band brings their beliefs to the table in the new album which speaks of the many problems we see today including global warming, animal cruelty and much more.
Reignier continues, “The single titled, “Death Row” and was written by us when we were going through a time where we felt the emergency of the situation of an animals life. We wanted to write something that spoke exactly how we felt. This song is about fur and, by consequences, about animals mistreatment. We don’t understand why a lot of animals are killed for their fur… Most people of the world don’t need fur for protection to the cold, we have a lot of alternative clothes for that. This just for fashion and is cruel.”

Where We Sleep – The Desert
London-based dark and dynamic pop project Where We Sleep has announced their debut EP ‘Experiments In The Dark’. Ahead of that, they present the lead single ‘The Desert’, a jaded and winding psych-infused track traversing similar addictive territory as PJ Harvey, Curve, and Garbage.
At Where We Sleep’s core is Beth Rettig, perhaps best known as the vocalist of alt-pop darlings Blindness. But this project also involves collaborations with various other artists. ‘The Desert’ sees Rettig collaborate with Axel Ray of United Ghosts (and also The Black Windmill and Cadet A) on lead guitar.
Dark and rough around the edges, this EP combines synth and live elements. This release also features contributions from Ben Pritchard, formerly of The Fall and currently in Manc Floyd, and former Blindness bandmate Debbie Smith of Curve, Echobelly and SPC ECO fame (and also Snowpony with My Bloody Valentine’s Debbie Googe and Moonshake’s Katharine Gifford).
‘Experiments In The Dark’ is a five-track offering, recorded in studios between London and Manchester. This follows up Where We Sleep’s single ‘The First One’, released in August 2018, preceded by Where We Sleep’s debut single ‘Veins’ in June 2018, also featuring Debbie Smith, and b-side ‘Crawl’, mixed in Addis Ababa by Guy Fixsen.
Raised in Africa (Nigeria, Botswana and South Africa) and saying goodbye to the days of her Johannesburg band High, Beth Rettig returned to the UK in 2000 and eventually hooked up with Debbie Smith to form Blindness. They had a good run until playing their final gig in 2016, followed by ‘The Monsoon EP’ in 2007, their final release.
“When Blindness ended – solely down to a change in my personal life – I didn’t know if I was going to write again. Where We Sleep is the result of discovering that you don’t know how not to make music,” says Beth Rettig.
Rettig’s music is rooted in an array of influences, including Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Curve, EMA, Nine Inch Nails, Jesus and Mary Chain, Garbage, Kate Bush, Massive Attack, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Pete International Airport, White Rose Movement and The Fall.
About ‘The Desert’ video, Rettig explains, “The road footage in The Desert video was taken when Axel and myself took a road trip to the Mojave Desert in California, with trips to Pioneertown and Joshua Tree National Park. It seemed a shame not to use those visuals, albeit affected, for the song. As the song came first, it was a cool realization that two people who did a song about driving through the desert together were taking a road trip through the desert together.”
‘Experiments In The Dark’ is slated for release on May 31 and will be available across digital stores and streaming platforms. It can also be pre-ordered via Where We Sleep’s own Bandcamp site.

Atmosphere – Stopwatch
Atmosphere has just released another new music video for “Stopwatch”, directed by Ryen McPherson and produced by activist art collective, INDECLINE, best known for their poignantly satirical murals and installations.
It’s a different place than it was two years ago when Atmosphere released their last record, Fishing Blues. Their seventh album, Mi Vida Local, reflects the ways in which the world–and their place in it–has changed. The idyllic domesticity of the past few records has morphed into anxiety over keeping loved ones safe during turbulent times. The easygoing collaboration between Ant and Slug has started to feel more like the life-or-death intimacy of two men trapped together on a lifeboat. At times, Mi Vida Local is a heavy album, (“I might be the last generation of grandparents,” goes a key line from “Virgo”), but it’s far from grim.
As the name implies, Mi Vida Local is intensely focused on the place it was created–the south side of Minneapolis–where Slug and Ant work tirelessly in their “beautiful basements”, refining their sound without interruption, save for a handful of Minneapolis friends that showed up to contribute. The album pairs complex subject matter with equally deep beats–ones that show a clear lineage back to the psychedelic funk landmarks from an earlier era where America was going through a post-utopian hangover, and prove that there won’t ever be a time where boom-bap beats don’t sound perfectly of the moment.
Mi Vida Local might be the best album Atmosphere’s ever made. It’s definitely the one they needed to make right now, and one listener’s need to hear just as urgently. If it’s sometimes an album about how the fight to find happiness never really ends–even after you get the house and the kids and the artistic freedom to make dad-rap records–it’s also about discovering that there’s happiness to be found just in fighting.

The Rogue Network – Supply & Demand
The Rogue Network is a blast of contemporary blues/soul music.
Influenced by the blues/soul sounds of the 70s but on a background of fat guitar riffs, driving grooves and analog synths the music hits a perfect marriage of modern dynamism and retro groove/soul.
The Rogue Network is the creation of singer/songwriter Gerallt Williams. He’s originally from North East Wales and now spends most of his time in Manchester.
While the nucleus of the Rogue Network is Gerallt, he is backed up by an array of talented rogues, ensuring the live performances are always full of energy and depth.
The Rogue Network was formed in 2015 and has established itself as a band/artist that’s trying to create it’s own unique sound.
In a music scene saturated with many similar bands/artists, the Rogue Network has established it’s own unique sound, style and identity.
On the song, Gerallt says:
‘Supply and Demand’ is a song about the modern-day drug dealers who are taking to the internet’s dark web to sell and distribute narcotics. They are young, innovative, skilled, and quick to realise that people who live in urban, down-trodden societies are keen to spend their money on drugs as a means to relieve the pressures of everyday life. Good businessmen squeeze the market, regardless of the consequences. It’s easy money”.
