Ask Carol have released their new video for the track titled ‘Run With You’. And, with this being their first actual music video, there is no better way to make their visual debut than with the eye candy set forth with ‘Run With You’. Constructed not only as a visual accompaniment to the song but as an artistic statement in of itself, the video gives visual punctuation to the percussiveness of the song while highlighting the hook and becoming almost a canvas for the song to paint on instead of the music becomes a soundtrack. This is essential because, as someone who reviews music every day, it is exactly what a music video should be; an introduction to the music.

ABOUT ASK CAROL
“Run With You” is Ask Carol’s first-ever real music video, made by the band themselves, under the corona-lockdown. Filmed around Carol’s home in the Norwegian woods, this short story portraits two girls, two sisters, desperate to get away. One of the sisters is in a bad, abusive relationship, reluctant to get away, while her sister tries to convince her otherwise. Eventually, she’s had enough, and the abused sister takes matters into her own hands. They escape together as the story unfolds in a dark, Nordic environment that sets the mood for this dramatic story. Given the special circumstance of the corona-lockdown and that Carol, Ask (Ask is a real Norwegian name) and Carol’s sister was quarantined together, the three is the only people involved in the music video. Carol and Ask filmed, produced, directed, acted in, and edited the music video, and Carol´s sister played the sister in the movie. A real Corona-lockdown DIY project.
“Run With You” is Ask Carol’s first single of 2020, a catchy disco-punk alt-pop tune with a retro vibe. Intimate vocals and grungy guitars setting the mood, with a dreamy background and pulsating beat.
The first of several releases planned for this Summer and Fall, leading up to debut album early 2021. The song was written long before these challenging corona times, but lately, the song has come to mean something more to us. We feel it represents a longing for just going away, to get away from it all, a feeling that has grown more intense as we all have to stay home for such a long time…

Faultress Premieres ‘Sleep Child’ (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Faultress has premiered her new single titled ‘Sleep Child’ on Jammerzine. Faultress is an artist that, in my opinion, was most likely originated from that first note she gave to the world. And, with ‘Sleep Child’, that is only asserted even more. ‘Sleep Child’ has a dark and brooding sound. An emotional statement wrapped in a cinematic declaration in an almost operatic way, emotionally. Think Kate Bush meets subtle early Nine Inch Nails. To be honest, I actually thought the song was shorter than it was because of the way the music and Faultress’ beautiful vocals carry you. But no. The song is almost four minutes. When you lose track of time, it’s because you got lost in the moment. This was a moment.

Interview with Republica’s Saffron
Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with one of my personal favorite artists and an artist that helped define my younger years, both musically and personally, in the form of Saffron Sprackling from the almighty Republica. To say that Republica not only defined the 90s and electronic rock and pop music in general is an understatement. They helped create a bevy of music that came after them and have continued to fill stadiums from then to now.
Republica, consisting of Saffron, Tim Dorney, and Johnny Glue, have also released their new single and video titled ‘New York’, from their upcoming album ‘Damaged Gods’, releasing in 2024. Continuing that alt.pop magic that Republica planted those sonic seeds for, ‘New York’ is the gateway drug that will continue that special legacy that Republica is know around the globe for. Showing the songwriting within the group is a continuous evolution of revolution feels so refreshing knowing that great artists never die.
And, in this interview, we talk with Saffron about ‘New York’ and ‘Damaged Gods’ as well as everything Republica and Saffron, including her charity work as a keyworker in the mental health industry during the pandemic (BBC News video below).
This is truly as much a good conversation with a wonderful person as it is an interview. Watch the video above to check it out. Enjoy!
About ‘New York’ & ‘Damaged Gods’
It’s been a long time coming as the mighty REPUBLICA release their first new material in a decade in the guise of massive new single ‘NEW YORK’. It may be chilly outside but Republica are determined to continue the Summer mood with this stunning feel-good anthem to send souls soaring and get bodies moving. A short, sharp shot of dopamine to the heart and soul, vocalist (and cultural icon) Saffron says; “We’re so happy to be back out headlining live festivals and gigs again after lockdown and delighted at the reactions from the crowds and every audience who seemed to have taken ‘New York’ to their hearts already, as it has become a firm live favorite. So for us it means the world to have the opportunity to finally release new material through Armalyte Records.”
2023 has been a stellar year for Republica featuring a headline performance at Blackpool’s Rebellion Punk Festival, playing to 25,000 people alongside the Happy Mondays, and a sellout UK tour with The Boomtown Rats, it seems only fitting that the band close out the year in celebratory style with this joyous, upbeat anthem.
Following in the footsteps of gigantic smash singles ‘Ready To Go’ (with an incredible 42 million Spotify streams and counting) and ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’, ‘New York’ is another Republica instant alt. pop classic, and is the first single to drop following their newly inked deal with Armalyte Records, London’s leading underground alternative label.
About Republica
Republica dominated the charts in the Nineties with the band’s iconic and fiery front woman, Saffron, Tim Dorney (keyboards) and Johnny Male (guitar). They rode the Britpop wave of female-fronted rock bands like Sleeper, Elastica, Garbage and Lush, injecting it with their self-dubbed ‘techno-pop, punk rock’ sound.
Between 1996 and 1999, Republica sold an incredible 3 million albums and clinched Top 5 slots in the UK, America, South America and Europe with platinum sales across the globe, while their hit single ‘Ready to Go’ soared to Number One in many countries.
Their music has become a sought after soundtrack: ‘Ready To Go’ is currently being used on a Chevrolet advert in the US and featured in the billion dollar grossing ‘Capt Marvel’ movie, ‘YellowJackets’, Ted Lasso, Cruel Summer, Dua Lipa’s World for Vogue and Olivia Rodrigo covered it live on her 2022 world tour. It has been used in more than 300 films and adverts. Wes Craven selected their hit single, ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’ for the soundtrack to his hit movie ‘Scream’ and invited them to perform at its Hollywood premiere.
Recently they have had headlining mainstage festival appearances including: the huge European City Of Culture festival in Serbia last year; Dubai, Israel, Germany, Isle Of Wight Festival, Victorious Festival, Norway’s Midnattsrocken, Little Orchard, Whychwood, Chalfest, Rebellion Punk Festival, Tom Kerridge’s Pub In The Park and a sell out UK tour with Sir Bob Geldolf’s Boomtown Rats.
Saffron also performed at two half times in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup last December and with Orchestras at the Brit Pop Festival and Back To Basics in Leeds with more coming in 2024.
Saffron has appeared on recordings by some of the world’s biggest music acts: The Prodigy (‘Fuel My Fire’ from ‘Fat of the Land’ album); The Cure ‘Just Say Yes’; Junkie XL; Gary Numan; Jeff Beck; DJ Carl Cox; Jah Wobble; N-Joi (‘Anthem’); Mark Moore, St Etienne and The Shamen.
Republica’s first album has been reissued as a Deluxe Triple CD, followed by colored vinyl reissues of both their albums: ‘Speed Ballads’ for 2023’s Record Store Day in April.
Saffron starred in a piece for the BBC for their classic TOTP documentary shows on the year 1997.

Jammerzine’s The Week in #Indie for 6/13/2022
Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Kitty Coen plus the premiere of her new single titled ‘rotten tomatoes’. Also an interview with Bulgaria’s Lunikk plus the premiere of their new video ‘Speechless’. Also an exclusive interview with The Redlines as well as premieres and new music from POESY, Pitou, The Wrecks, Darion Harris, Dan Bauer, and The Erly.
About Kitty Coen
Kitty Coen has an exclusive interview with Jammerzine and has also officially premiered her new single titled ‘rotten tomatoes’, which dropped June 10th (2022).
Kitty is an artist that, quite frankly, will be mentioned very frequently for not only her songwriting but her performance and signature sound. She is, in every sense of the word, a brand. She gets it too. This is what you need to make it in the music industry. That’s how you become memorable.
And within that brand that is all things Kitty Coen, we get a glimpse of her influences, both musical and in life, and we get them wrapped up in her own music.
And, in this interview, we talk with Kitty about said music and the process of creating it. We also dive deep into that rabbit hole of the self and psyche and realize that she is just as creative, humble, and good a person as she is in music. This is a lesson on making it big.

Lunikk has released their new video and single titled ‘Speechless‘, from their upcoming album ‘Unreal City’, releasing June 10th. Ahead of that, we get not only a premiere of said video, we get an exclusive interview from a purely dynamic duo that, in my opinion, is one of the faces of the future of #indie music.
‘Speechless’ conveys that part of us all that we almost never convey but always dwell on. A slow builder to the soul with a crescendo that is classic sounding with a modern feel. Lunikk is a band that I am a personal fan of, so I may be a bit bias. But, take into account the amount of new music I listen to, I can honestly say that this is a band I seek out when I want to chill at home or need a soundtrack for my thoughts.

Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Brian Seese and Tony Vinski from The Redlines. Having released their new EP titled ‘Kick Out Today’, the band are rapidly showing their signature sound and originality among the music masses.
With a nod to the guitar rock and rock legends of the past with an eye clearly on the future, it’s hard not to acknowledge that the four member, six string concept is alive and well.
In this interview we talk with Brian and Tony about that sound and ‘Kick Out Today’, as well as what’s coming up and more.

https://theredlines.bandcamp.comAbout POESY
POESY has today unleashed her new video for the track titled ‘Multiply’. After getting over that killer electronic bass line, I was astonished by the voice that POESY possesses, or possesses her. New fan, right here. The power and angst conveyed in each signature note is something you have to hear to believe. I can’t explain it. And she fits this song and video perfectly.
POESY is not an artist, she is a universe. You get placed into another world listening to her music. Video aside, this is world building. The video is a guide for those who do not get what I just said. A film-score to a soundtrack. Let this become a part of you, so you can become a part of it.

https://twitter.com/poesyofficialAbout Pitou
Pitou has released her new video and single titled ‘Big Tear’. the first thing you will notice is that Pitou is a singer that feels the lyrics. Knows the song on a deeper level. Embraces it with that same emotion she cultivated when she wrote it. She becomes the music. She is the song. This is that initial carry-away with I get. But, you must remember that first hook that brought you to the play button. The song is that good.
The marriage between musician and music that works perfectly. You don’t move on after a few notes. You can’t fudge the slider around trying to find the hook. The song IS the hook. And that hook has you. The audio equivalent of a David Lynch film. The cool kids all mention him but few remember any film titles. They just heard through the grapevine that he was a good and original director. This is that with the added listen and staying power. Stay a while longer.

https://www.pitoumusic.comAbout The Wrecks
The Wrecks have released their new album titled ‘Sonder’. After reviewing their single ‘Lone Survivor‘, I thought I had this band pegged. I thought I had them figured out. Now I look like an @$$hole. I really really do. But, that’s ok. There is much more here. Much under the surface. Right now there is an iceberg named Sonder and I just heard the 80% under the surface.
The intricacies within each of the songs delivers a lot more than expected. The little things like an inflection, a guitar note or riff, so on. It’s the details like that where you can really tell if a band cares about their music.
And, while ‘Sonder’ has that ‘polished’ sound, it fits. Like a glove. It’s signature.

Darion Harris has released his new single titled ‘Don Juan’. Blending the line between fantasy and reality, Harlem-raised producer and artist Darion Harris seeks to encapsulate a world where fairytales and real-life merge together. His newest offering, ‘Don Juan’ is just an introduction to the playful and exhilarating world of Darion that is yet to be explored.
Currently charting on the Spotify Viral Chart in South Africa with his recent release ‘Mitsubishi Dreams’, ‘Don Juan’ is a track that reflects on Darion’s recent success and boasts newfound confidence. From the visuals to the production and adlibs, ‘Don Juan’ is nothing short of an intense burst of compelling energy. The buoyant yet braggadocious lyrics see Darion deliver witty punchlines over the busy self-produced beat that radiates influences from video game soundtracks. Working in collaboration with Evander Griiim (protégé of Gucci Mane) on a track had always been a dream for Darion Harris, and so this collaborative piece of work further yet validates Darion’s cocky persona throughout this track.

Dan Bauer is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter hailing from New Hampshire. His quirky, soul-searching video single, ‘U.G.L.Y.’ is out now.
We are hooked in by the visuals instantaneously, as the artist can be seen stomping on a bag sharpied with the word ‘drama’. Lamenting statements such as ‘Can’t see why I can’t be….Happy’ is a big tell that the main character is feeling something quite contrary to what he’s showing.
Musically, Bauer displays moments of sensitive falsetto, which are then contrasted by upbeat percussion. According to the artist, the goal of this release is to juxtapose and contrast against his most recent album, The After Life, which has a more traditional set-up of electric guitar/bass/vocals/acoustic guitar/piano. The instrumentation of U.G.L.Y includes ‘acoustic guitar, drums, hand claps, synth sweeps, a funky bassline, piano, a staccato strings solo, and varied backing vocals’.

The Erly have released their new single titled ‘You’re Heaven’. Sindependent with the goal being soul, The Erly bash and pop the best of the rhythm into an original cacophony of soul-funk with enough stank and attitude to become a part of your personal groove.
Take what you will from this, but you will remember that this is a party coming from your speakers. And, if your listening through earbuds, you need to punch yourself in the grill because who goes to a f*cking party wearing earbuds. Yes folks, this is that song.
