An Interview with Brake Loose
Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Brake Loose. This is a band that I highly recommend for more reasons than just the obvious. Take a listen to the playlist below. Brake Loose is yet another reason that COVID needs to f*ck off immediately. This is a band we need to hear and see live. With sheer rebellion in the music and the anarchy in the anecdotes, Brake Loose are a band that needs to cut loose and the place for that is on the stage.
Having said that, we get the gift of gab featuring the entire band! These are the interviews that really shine, imho. In this interview we get a glimpse of the mayhem behind the music from a band that has already found their sound and capturing them at that moment in their career between lockdown and blowup.
About Brake Loose
Based in Dublin, Ireland Brake Loose is a five-piece Hard Rock band with a fresh hard-hitting sound and a penchant for including provocative Spoken Word Poetry within songs.
Led and formed in 2019 by reckless Venezuelan frontman and poet Alex Murillo with his rough melodic tunes and theatrical vocal style. They’ve gigged extensively throughout Dublin, establishing themselves as a notable force on the Irish music scene. With Tico Pellegrino (guitar), David O’Grady (guitar), Eoin Madden (bass), and Johnny Krasuski (drums) they lay down madness dripping with head-banging grooves and electrifying solos. They released their debut single “Dublin Daze” as a music video in 2020, which was well-received online, driving the band forward.
Selling Out their first headline show November 2021 at The Workman’s Club Cellar – Dublin, with this hype, they are currently crafting their debut album.

Black Bordello Releases Eponymous Album (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Black Bordello have released their eponymous album. A solid fusion of a little of everything from Fusion to vintage show and everything in between but one thing is for sure, this is all Black Bordello. In all of their glory. And this is what I love about #indie music. That unbreaking originality and melding of influences. This is the love of music put to record.

After a few years of gigging in and around London, Peckham’s Black Bordello is an established live force. Following a succession of well-received singles ( Spectre Man, Backache, Leeches ) The London group has released a full-length debut album that melds Vaudeville, Jazz, and Gothic Rock in one complete and overwhelming maelstrom.
Originally the project of Sienna Bordello, much of the album’s material dates back to Black Bordello’s 2017 inception, although it has now been honed to streamlined perfection. However, as the band’s line up has stabilized, a singular sound has emerged that fuses the band’s seemingly disparate influences.
Sienna’s influences come from across the board from “the loaded rebellion” of PJ Harvey and Poly Styrene to the emotional integrity of Bessie Smith and the post-modern vibe collages of Post Normal. The latter of which she was introduced to by her university lecturer the late, great writer Mark Fisher. “I sheepishly told him I couldn’t make music because i didn’t have any of the right ‘stuff’. He told me that was bollocks and showed me some bands who recorded at home without all the fancy gear and software, Garage Band and Audacity became my playground as I discovered there is no right way”
Of her own musical beginnings, Sienna says ” I got very into pre-war Jazz and started singing standards at the Jamboree in the Cable Street studios, where I later ended up illegally living. I would get up and sit with the band and sing a song or two, normally Billie Holiday or Bessie Smith, as dancers with day jobs partnered up and practiced swing dancing in hoards on the old scratched parquet floors. I had fun but it wasn’t always easy”
After Sienna’s scatting was deemed too experimental for the jazz standards group, she looked for a new musical vehicle. After bonding with keys player Andrew Marriott over similar fish tattoos at a Brockley party, Black Bordello swiftly took shape, with the group taking their name from Sienna’s family restaurant ‘Il Bordello’.
Now roughly 3 years after the band’s first show, a fully realized self-titled album is finally ready for release. From the Dreaming era of Kate Bush’s theatre of ‘Leeches’ to the heady prog swagger of ‘Prufrock’, a wild range of music is on show. ‘Baby’ is a noisy Jazz sprawl and ‘Spectre Man’ is as maudlin a ballad as you’re ever likely to hear. This is a vital debut album by one of the capitals most exciting new bands.

Klammer Releases ‘Being Boiled’ Single (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Klammer is a band with, not only a rich history in music but an even richer knowledge of music. They not only know what works, they are what works. And this is none more present than in their new single titled ‘Being Boiled’. With a thick beat, wonderfully decadent guitars, and the rich deep and pound vocals of Paul (Poss) Strickland leading the way, ‘Being Boiled’ is that special drive and sonic assault that give a rush of adrenaline to the brain while staying steady enough to remain in your mind long after that initial listen. We have a brilliant anthem for the summer.
‘Being Boiled’ dropped June 3rd, 2019, on all digital platforms, including Bandcamp and their official store (more links below).
About Klammer
Hailing from Leeds, Klammer draws on the members’ shared love for all things angular, dark, loud and melodic. Previously described as the love child of XTC and Gang Of Four, they offer an enticing contemporary twist on the post-punk attitude, blending elements of goth rock, punk rock, and darkwave, all with dark pop sensibilities. You’ll find plenty of hooks and dark and edgy broodiness coursing through their sound.Formed by UK Producer Steve Whitfield (The Cure/The Mission/Jane Weaver) in 2014, they have already released 3 albums to great critical acclaim, with last years ‘You Have Been Processed’ receiving fantastic reviews across the board. The singles ‘Modern God’ and ‘Spiral Girl’ off the album, both received airplay on 6 Music.
Having consistently played up and down the country both as a headline act and in support of some big-name bands (including The Skids, The Undertones, Richie Ramone, Chameleons Vox, Penetration, and The Membranes), they have also played at Rebellion for the last two years and The Great British Alternative Festival. Klammer is intent on consolidating their position as one of the country’s finest live Post Punk acts.
