The Magic E’s play melodic Rock ‘n’ Roll that delivers “Sounds of early Brit-Pop and Mod-Rock through building melodies and wonderfully textured sounds.” (Anthem Review).
Their influences range from bands such as The Who, The Clash and The Small Faces and 90’s Indie including The Stone Roses, Ride and The Charlatans whilst comparisons have often been made to Bruce Springsteen, Teenage Fanclub, The Gaslight Anthem and The Jam.
Since forming in 2014 Pete Thompson (vocals/guitar), Jasper Stainthorpe (Bass) and Stuart Catchpole (drums) have released a string of singles and gained worldwide radio play and critical acclaim for their debut album, ‘It Goes On’.
New Jersey-based Henry Lipput, music blogger and reviewer for numerous publications, made it his favorite album of 2017 and went as far as to say that the band was “The best British Rock ‘n’ Roll band since the heyday of the Gallagher brothers”.
The band completed their first UK tour in 2018 and won over an army of new fans as a result. 2019 sees the band release their second album alongside a number of live shows across the country in support of their new music.
‘Into The Fading Light’ is the first single to be taken from the new album and it’s definitely a nod to all of the above, a real feel good, balls out, Rock ‘n’ Roll, tune.

Jammerzine’s The Week in #Indie for 8/23/2021
In this episode of The Week in #Indie we feature exclusive interviews with Sahaj Ticotin from Ra, Paul Holden, and Spacette. Plus new music, videos, and premieres from Seether, Glenn Hodge Banned, Sour Ops, Jamilla & The Other Hereos, Jasmine Thakral, Me, I’m Counting, and Monica Aben.
About Ra
Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with a legend of loud in the form of Sahaj Ticotin from the rock band Ra. As the world cautiously opens up and the venues begin to fill, Ra are set to take their music on the road with fellow acts Awake At Last, REDDSTAR, September Mourning, Any Given Sin and Killakoi on select dates. The tour begins this Friday (August 20th) (dates & ticket info HERE).
In this interview we talk with Sahaj about the new tour and their latest album, ‘Intercorrupted’, Ra’s musical history and where Ra is headed musically.
Ra is a band that, in my opinion, came out at the right time. I remember the late ’90s. I also remember, it was getting a bit boring in regards to music. Ra was my ‘Holy Sh*t!’ moment. That glorious mix of middle eastern and modern western that is ‘Do You Call My Name‘ made me play the guitar in front of my stereo again. Their genre-redefining at the turn of the century turned the century into a place that could survive creatively. ‘Intercorrupted’ is a continuation of such and sees the band take a more accessible and melodic approach. Where could the band be headed next? Actually, there is an answer in the interview.

Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with UK artist Paul Holden. With the new release of his EP titled ‘Say It To The Sun’, Paul enters a new chapter in his musical career.
The EP, ‘Say It To The Sun’, is a perfect gateway drug for those looking for new and original music. Paul has a style that is a lucid combination or rock and pop with hints of electronica. The power, though, is the songwriting. The songs are solid. Hooks and memorable melodies throughout, each song has its own signature that everyone can pick a favorite from.
In this interview, we talk to Paul about his new EP and how he came to be in the #indie music scene.

Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Spacette. As a bonus, we may also have the very first review of their new EP ‘You Don’t Have To Rise To Shine’.
No copy and paste premieres here, folks! Why did I say that? Because bands and artists put their hearts and souls into these tracks and they deserve the best promotion they can get. And this is none more evident than in Spacette. As you will hear in the interview, this artist brought back precious memories I didn’t realize I had. They have that sound. That sound of home. Lazy summer days of childhood I thought once gone relived to a new soundtrack to those memories. ‘120 Minutes’ on MTV with that goth girl I wanted as a girlfriend.
Those songs I thought I just heard I now listen to because of Spacette. They have this style that, while all their own, take what I love to the next level. Every song is as much orchestrated as it is recorded. Written from the heart and that heart is on their sleeves. Melodic harmonies carefully laid over breezy tracks with a style that was long ago realized but still getting honed.
In this interview we talk with Spacette’s Jordan Heimburger about said music as well as the beginnings, future plans and more.

Seether has released their new video for the track titled ‘Wasteland’, from their EP ‘Wasteland – The Purgatory EP ‘ & ‘Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum’.
Visually desolate and sonically cinematic and droning, Seether again shows their longevity with that signature sound that literally spans decades. The drone that I love is that unique chord progression fitting just under that weary vocal set that gives a feeling. That feeling can be unique to each of us but, to me, its a subtle mix of dread and longing. That part of me I keep to myself. I don’t know if that is the effect that Seether wants but its what I get. And that’s enough to keep me interested.
The video features snake wrangler and conservationist Danielle Wall, along with The National frontman Matt Berninger’s brother Tom Berninger.
Shot amongst ruins of desert homes near Joshua Tree, lead singer Shaun Morgan explains: “We were trying to figure out how to make some kind of statement about the evils of social media and it evolved from one idea to the video it is now. After spending such a long period of time without any kind of personal contact with the other band members, the live performance element was especially important to us – it was good for us mentally and emotionally, but it was also important to visually show that we’ve come out the other side after such a difficult time.”
Seether is set to release their new compilation titled ‘Vicennial – 2 Decades of Seether’ on October 15th via Craft Recordings.

Glenn Hodge Banned will release his new album titled ‘The Long Run’ this Friday (August 20th). At that first listen, ‘Long Run’ gives the impression of an alt-folk with a tinge of soul, but when you go deeper, you find that Glenn may be one of the last troubadours. He has a keen sense of the music of the past, but he makes that, and more, his own. I would maybe compare him to early Bob Dylan. Not in style but in career milestones. He is at the beginning of his own long run. We get a span of emotions and stories that he lived through each track while being told through the mind and heart of a musical poet.

https://www.glennhodgebanned.comAbout Sour Ops
Sour Ops has premiered their new single titled ‘Now You’re Gone’. More than a typical pop song, Sour Ops (aka Price Harrison), has a penchant for framing the hook and surrounding it with melody. Almost a throwback to the songwriters of old, ‘Now You’re Gone’ takes a modern spin with strings and a buildup of instrumentation to take the listener on a ride through a piece of the artist’s life. Short but sweet, now its gone. Good thing the play button is back.

Jamila & The Other Heroes have released their new video for the track titled ‘Border Syndrome احلام بلا حدود’. As if written, produced, and released as divine intervention, this video could not have come out at a better time. The rights of freedom are being tested once again around the world to different degrees, and Jamila & the Other Heroes are just that; heroes. For saying what they say and putting it to music. This song and video are an anthem and a statement.
Musically, this is sonic art. Global in sound and universal in spectrum, ‘Border Syndrome احلام بلا حدود’ isn’t a cry for freedom, its an announcement. It is coming. Peacefully. Inevitably. Beautifully.

Jasmine Thakral has premiered her new video for the track titled ‘Running in a Haze’. Coming off as a lazy summer song there is a deeper essence just under the surface. That feeling of longing and loneliness brought on by the lockdown has hit us all. Lucky, though, that there has been a steady stream of creativity coming out of the #indie scene as a result. ‘Running in a Haze’ is the latest. Making its own mark of such, the song, and visualizer, bring a calmness and a realization that we’ve all been through a lot. But what makes us survive is our introspection. Our ‘staring into the abyss and we find ourselves’ realization. Jasmine personifies that with her beautiful voice and steadfastly stoic track. Bravo.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTDwtqsPzpKCtK-ALkKVFRwAbout Me, I’m Counting
Me, I’m Counting has released his new EP titled ‘MACAU’. While the titled track builds that slow grind of musical suspense it drives forth into what you would think to expect of ‘MACAU’ the EP. What you actually find, however, is a set of distinctive soundscapes showcasing different parts of the mind. Is it the mind of Nick (a.k.a. Me, I’m Counting)? Is it what your mind is interpreting? That’s the beauty of music. It’s, in the end, inside the mind of the listener. ‘MACAU’ is an electronic jazz session. A free-for-all with you having a front row seat. Sonic theater for the soul set to various b.p.m.s and mood sets. Get out of it what you will. That will say more about you.

Monica Aben has premiered her new video for the track titled ‘Kids in LA’. time makes the heart grow fonder. I totally get what Monica was saying here. Being a child of the 80s I can’t help but watch ‘Knight Rider’ every time it comes on. Or getting a box of Nerds just for the memories. Monica puts this to music that is as fond as it is memorable itself. Monster hook and anthemic growl compliment Monica’s gorgeous and earnest vocals talking about times gone by and the abyss that is a memory. This makes us forever young.

Jammerzine’s The Week in #Indie for 6/13/2022
Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Kitty Coen plus the premiere of her new single titled ‘rotten tomatoes’. Also an interview with Bulgaria’s Lunikk plus the premiere of their new video ‘Speechless’. Also an exclusive interview with The Redlines as well as premieres and new music from POESY, Pitou, The Wrecks, Darion Harris, Dan Bauer, and The Erly.
About Kitty Coen
Kitty Coen has an exclusive interview with Jammerzine and has also officially premiered her new single titled ‘rotten tomatoes’, which dropped June 10th (2022).
Kitty is an artist that, quite frankly, will be mentioned very frequently for not only her songwriting but her performance and signature sound. She is, in every sense of the word, a brand. She gets it too. This is what you need to make it in the music industry. That’s how you become memorable.
And within that brand that is all things Kitty Coen, we get a glimpse of her influences, both musical and in life, and we get them wrapped up in her own music.
And, in this interview, we talk with Kitty about said music and the process of creating it. We also dive deep into that rabbit hole of the self and psyche and realize that she is just as creative, humble, and good a person as she is in music. This is a lesson on making it big.

Lunikk has released their new video and single titled ‘Speechless‘, from their upcoming album ‘Unreal City’, releasing June 10th. Ahead of that, we get not only a premiere of said video, we get an exclusive interview from a purely dynamic duo that, in my opinion, is one of the faces of the future of #indie music.
‘Speechless’ conveys that part of us all that we almost never convey but always dwell on. A slow builder to the soul with a crescendo that is classic sounding with a modern feel. Lunikk is a band that I am a personal fan of, so I may be a bit bias. But, take into account the amount of new music I listen to, I can honestly say that this is a band I seek out when I want to chill at home or need a soundtrack for my thoughts.

Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Brian Seese and Tony Vinski from The Redlines. Having released their new EP titled ‘Kick Out Today’, the band are rapidly showing their signature sound and originality among the music masses.
With a nod to the guitar rock and rock legends of the past with an eye clearly on the future, it’s hard not to acknowledge that the four member, six string concept is alive and well.
In this interview we talk with Brian and Tony about that sound and ‘Kick Out Today’, as well as what’s coming up and more.

POESY has today unleashed her new video for the track titled ‘Multiply’. After getting over that killer electronic bass line, I was astonished by the voice that POESY possesses, or possesses her. New fan, right here. The power and angst conveyed in each signature note is something you have to hear to believe. I can’t explain it. And she fits this song and video perfectly.
POESY is not an artist, she is a universe. You get placed into another world listening to her music. Video aside, this is world building. The video is a guide for those who do not get what I just said. A film-score to a soundtrack. Let this become a part of you, so you can become a part of it.

https://twitter.com/poesyofficialAbout Pitou
Pitou has released her new video and single titled ‘Big Tear’. the first thing you will notice is that Pitou is a singer that feels the lyrics. Knows the song on a deeper level. Embraces it with that same emotion she cultivated when she wrote it. She becomes the music. She is the song. This is that initial carry-away with I get. But, you must remember that first hook that brought you to the play button. The song is that good.
The marriage between musician and music that works perfectly. You don’t move on after a few notes. You can’t fudge the slider around trying to find the hook. The song IS the hook. And that hook has you. The audio equivalent of a David Lynch film. The cool kids all mention him but few remember any film titles. They just heard through the grapevine that he was a good and original director. This is that with the added listen and staying power. Stay a while longer.

https://www.pitoumusic.comAbout The Wrecks
The Wrecks have released their new album titled ‘Sonder’. After reviewing their single ‘Lone Survivor‘, I thought I had this band pegged. I thought I had them figured out. Now I look like an @$$hole. I really really do. But, that’s ok. There is much more here. Much under the surface. Right now there is an iceberg named Sonder and I just heard the 80% under the surface.
The intricacies within each of the songs delivers a lot more than expected. The little things like an inflection, a guitar note or riff, so on. It’s the details like that where you can really tell if a band cares about their music.
And, while ‘Sonder’ has that ‘polished’ sound, it fits. Like a glove. It’s signature.

Darion Harris has released his new single titled ‘Don Juan’. Blending the line between fantasy and reality, Harlem-raised producer and artist Darion Harris seeks to encapsulate a world where fairytales and real-life merge together. His newest offering, ‘Don Juan’ is just an introduction to the playful and exhilarating world of Darion that is yet to be explored.
Currently charting on the Spotify Viral Chart in South Africa with his recent release ‘Mitsubishi Dreams’, ‘Don Juan’ is a track that reflects on Darion’s recent success and boasts newfound confidence. From the visuals to the production and adlibs, ‘Don Juan’ is nothing short of an intense burst of compelling energy. The buoyant yet braggadocious lyrics see Darion deliver witty punchlines over the busy self-produced beat that radiates influences from video game soundtracks. Working in collaboration with Evander Griiim (protégé of Gucci Mane) on a track had always been a dream for Darion Harris, and so this collaborative piece of work further yet validates Darion’s cocky persona throughout this track.

Dan Bauer is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter hailing from New Hampshire. His quirky, soul-searching video single, ‘U.G.L.Y.’ is out now.
We are hooked in by the visuals instantaneously, as the artist can be seen stomping on a bag sharpied with the word ‘drama’. Lamenting statements such as ‘Can’t see why I can’t be….Happy’ is a big tell that the main character is feeling something quite contrary to what he’s showing.
Musically, Bauer displays moments of sensitive falsetto, which are then contrasted by upbeat percussion. According to the artist, the goal of this release is to juxtapose and contrast against his most recent album, The After Life, which has a more traditional set-up of electric guitar/bass/vocals/acoustic guitar/piano. The instrumentation of U.G.L.Y includes ‘acoustic guitar, drums, hand claps, synth sweeps, a funky bassline, piano, a staccato strings solo, and varied backing vocals’.

The Erly have released their new single titled ‘You’re Heaven’. Sindependent with the goal being soul, The Erly bash and pop the best of the rhythm into an original cacophony of soul-funk with enough stank and attitude to become a part of your personal groove.
Take what you will from this, but you will remember that this is a party coming from your speakers. And, if your listening through earbuds, you need to punch yourself in the grill because who goes to a f*cking party wearing earbuds. Yes folks, this is that song.

Drew Davies Releases ‘X and Y’ Single (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Drew Davies has just released his new single titled ‘X and Y’. Sounding like a song that gets right down to business, that business seems to be the sound of an original artist. When I first hear the name Drew Davies I think of originality. And that is not a word to toss around. Listen to ‘X and Y’ for example. It sounds signature from the first note. And the passion is evident in everything from the voice to the hi-hat and everything in between. Beautiful chord progressions accompanied by stellar vocals and a steady backbeat, ‘X and Y’ continue the evolution of Drew’s musical journey that is rapidly defining itself into a wonderful legacy.
Speaking of the single, Drew Davies tells us, “I wrote ‘ X and Y ’ on women’s day a few years ago. It’s a song that on one hand calls for equality for all people, no matter their age, sex, or orientation; whilst on the other hand, calling out hypocrisy stemming from the kinds of people who say one thing publicly and another behind closed doors. It was originally written on piano but for the single and album we decided to add a pseudo-Tarantino vibe with vintage guitars and synthesizers.”

ABOUT DREW DAVIES
Rock soloist hailing from London, Drew Davies has released his single, ‘X and Y’ on 1 May via AD1. The single is lifted from his upcoming self-titled album, which will be made public on 15 May. The album was mixed by Steve Honest (Oasis, Eurythmics) and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Super Furry Animals).
Davies has been featured by the likes of Clash Magazine, Atwood Magazine, Music Week, Music News, and Pure Grain Audio amongst others. He has seen radio play from BBC Introducing London with Gary Crowley, BBC Radio York’s Introducing with Jericho Keys, BBC Wales, Radio X, Planet Rock, and as a previous member of The Mercy House, the band saw support from Kerrang, Classic Rock Magazine, Metal Hammer, MTV and BBC Radio 6 and Radio X. Drew Davies has toured extensively in the UK and Europe and played Download Festival, London’s Scala, and the iconic Troubadour.
Hailing from South Yorkshire, Davies comes from a long line of singers and musicians. He has spent the better part of the last decade working in musical collaborations, writing for other artists, and singing in session gigs to get by. Through successes, setbacks, and everything in between, he has poured himself into his musical labors and has now produced his most personal work to date.
Pulling from a wide array of influences, Drew Davies is inspired by everything from 50’s rock n’ roll to electronica, citing acts such as The National, Scott Walker, Vangelis, and Tom Petty. From this palette of familiar reference points, he has created a genre-bending and timeless sound that bears semblance to the likes of Sam Fender, Future Islands, and The War On Drugs.
Returning with his vintage electronic rock sounds, Drew Davies provides the thought-provoking ‘X and Y’. Taking his own rebellious stance on gender norms, clothing, and old school rock and roll, Drew Davies uses his honeyed voice to convince the world to reject set social standards. The result is a Tarantino inspired traditional sound meeting a non-traditional school of thought, brought together with a romantic tone and leaving the listener breathless in anticipation for what comes next.
