DIVES released their new single titled ‘100 Times’ on June 17, 2020. We get a listen of the suave new track in all of its glory and shimmering originality. The track is a showcase of sorts and a perfect introduction track to what DIVES’ sound is and creativity can bring. The song is a strong blend of solid chord progressions and harmonies that soar and dive in unison causing that inevitable hit of the repeat button.

ABOUT DIVES
Teenage angst has paid off well, DIVES are now ready to have it all. DIVES know their capabilities, their strengths, and the songs they want to write. On their first album, titled ‘Teenage Years Are Over’, they now become an essential integrant within Europe’s big indie-bands.
With their first EP, DIVES got off to a dream start: In Dresden, they played in front of 12,000 people, headlined the Viennese Popfest, toured with Courtney Barnett, accompanied the Vengaboys at the Viennese Ballhausplatz and played various shows as support to established artists (Franz Ferdinand, Bilderbuch). Three years have passed since their formation at pink noise Girls Rock Camp and ever since, they not only toured Central and Eastern Europe, crashed big stages and important industry festivals (Reeperbahn Festival, c/o pop), but also did not back away from well-known underground venues (8mm Bar, Ostpol Dresden).
On their debut Teenage Years Are Over, DIVES channeled their energies together with producer and label-mate Wolfgang Möstl (Voodoo Jürgens, Clara Luzia, Nino Aus Wien). Their album is going to be released on the Viennese label Siluh Records. DIVES earned their spurs on tour and now they only comply with their own rules. In doing so, they do not need permission or well-intentioned advice.

DIVES accompany Surf-Garage-Pop with emancipated lyrics. They don’t shy away from speaking their mind. There’s no crying over missed chances, no pointless vanity, and no fake pretending for the sake of being part of something. This mindset also shows in their thoroughly produced music videos, most recently for the song Chico for which they teamed up with director Kevin Pham. It accentuates the trio’s refined aesthetics while they are riding a speedboat over the Vienna’s Danube River. On their first, full-length record, DIVES wave good-bye to the initial doubts – „Are we good enough? Where do we want to see ourselves? What will happen if our youthful easiness is gone?“. They found their answers: On the stage, in their songs and finally in themselves as friends and companions.

Paris Street Rebels Release Double Single ‘I Don’t Wanna Die Young’ / ‘Freakshow’ (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Willed into existence in the year 2017, Paris Street Rebels take the best parts of the transatlantic Punk explosion of the 1970s and combine it with towering melodies and 21st-century working class outrage.
The 4 piece hail from the tough mining town of Ballingry, Fife, Scotland. The mines have long shut down and ‘Thatcher’ is still a dirty word, the band looks to music as an escape, an antidote and a means to elevate themselves and others like them from the indignity of a story left untold, a destiny unfulfilled.
Informed and inspired by their own lives and the records that shaped them a pact was formed in between the chord changes and a promise was made.
Beyond the confines of their beginnings, Paris Street Rebels’ ultimate goal is to unite the forgotten people, the misfits, the lost, the persecuted, the afraid and everyone in between.
To give something back to an age where musicians and artists only exist to take. To give the world what it’s been missing ever since Rock ‘n’ Roll lost its teeth.
‘I Don’t Wanna Die Young’ is a meditation on suicide and it’s uncomfortable place within celebrated Rock ’n’ Roll myth, in an age where mental illness is finally losing its stigma and hope is still out of fashion. This is the band’s attempt to put that last part right.
‘Freakshow’ is a schizophrenic anthem penned in desperation. The need to escape to an almost mythical promised land where authenticity trumps artifice and drives the narrative whilst simultaneously realizing that this can only be achieved by changing the place and time you’re in.
Built from old smashed up Punk LPs and broken bottles it’s designed to excite and leave a nasty scar.

Skumlove Releases ‘The Dark’ Video (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Skumlove has released their new video titled ‘The Dark’. Music with a meaning and video with a vision, ‘The Dark’ explores that ‘thing’ that most of us are affected by but few dare to talk. Stigma is a prejudice. Prejudice is ignorance. And, since isolation was somewhat mandated in the last year, anxiety and depression have become the norm. But, there is strength in numbers. Discussion can be exposing. ‘The Dark’ is a reminder that we are not alone and we have nothing to fear. Let the music be the anthem for a movement.
The ‘You Rock Foundation’ has partnered with Skumlove in supporting their single, “The Dark” and hopes to shed light on anyone who may be going through dark times and in need of help or support. More information on the ‘You Rock Foundation’ can be found HERE.
About ‘The Dark’
Self-described as Dark Rock, Skumlove has officially released their upcoming single, “The Dark” on all platforms. Skumlove is a band consisting of vocalist Skum Love, Robyn Sin on guitars, Cisco Z on drums, and J. Diablo on bass, with extra guitar effects by Michael Ciravolo of ‘Beauty In Chaos’. Their upcoming single, “The Dark” was written by Skum Love, and produced, mixed, and mastered by Alex Crescioni at Stygian Sound. The music video was shot and directed by Vicente Cordero at Industrialism Films.
“The Dark” was written “under duress while being held captive by the height of the pandemic in 2020. The song depicts dark imagery of four characters dealing with stress, anxiety and depression in their lives. A heartbroken girl, a stressed-out businessman, and a bullied youth contemplating revenge, while a battered housewife tries to drown her sorrows. Inside this darkness is a ray of light in the shape of a hand reaching out to pull them out of the turmoil and bad decisions.”
Alex Crescioni, who produced, mixed and mastered the single shares, “‘The Dark’ showcases a new sound for Skumlove that I feel has been waiting to emerge from the depths. The music and video complement each other beautifully encompassing vulnerability we all can relate to during times of mental and emotional unraveling.”
Speaking on the single, vocalist, Skum Love wanted to create a song that felt relatable during a challenging time within the past year. Skum Love shares, “This song is a very personal one. I knew it had to be more than just another song, it had to be a movement… I reached out to the ‘You Rock Foundation’, and with their incredible help, this song can reach to more people and hopefully reach others that are crying out for help. Music has always brought me out of a dark place and made me see the light.”
About Skumlove
Skumlove is a dark rock industrial band, originally from Los Angeles. The band consists of vocalist Skum Love, Robyn Sin on guitars, Cisco Z on drums, and J. Diablo on bass. Compared to Type O Negative, Prong, and Killing Joke, lead singer Skum Love always knew he wanted to be on the music scene. Skum Love was also a household name in Hollywood’s most notorious nightclubs and alleyways. While Skum was promoting clubs all over southern California, touring the world and spreading the “brand, there was always a musical itch that wasn’t being scratched.
Skum, under the wing of Glen Danzig, began the first incarnation of Skumlove consisting of an all-star cast including Dino Cazares (Fear Factory) and Justin Bennett of Skinny Puppy. Skumlove has also had Tony Campos (Static-X) and Tommy Victor (Prong), as well as Burton C. Bell and many other forms of the band.

The Magic E’s Release ‘Into The Fading Light’ (The Week in #Indie Segment)
The Magic E’s play melodic Rock ‘n’ Roll that delivers “Sounds of early Brit-Pop and Mod-Rock through building melodies and wonderfully textured sounds.” (Anthem Review).
Their influences range from bands such as The Who, The Clash and The Small Faces and 90’s Indie including The Stone Roses, Ride and The Charlatans whilst comparisons have often been made to Bruce Springsteen, Teenage Fanclub, The Gaslight Anthem and The Jam.
Since forming in 2014 Pete Thompson (vocals/guitar), Jasper Stainthorpe (Bass) and Stuart Catchpole (drums) have released a string of singles and gained worldwide radio play and critical acclaim for their debut album, ‘It Goes On’.
New Jersey-based Henry Lipput, music blogger and reviewer for numerous publications, made it his favorite album of 2017 and went as far as to say that the band was “The best British Rock ‘n’ Roll band since the heyday of the Gallagher brothers”.
The band completed their first UK tour in 2018 and won over an army of new fans as a result. 2019 sees the band release their second album alongside a number of live shows across the country in support of their new music.
‘Into The Fading Light’ is the first single to be taken from the new album and it’s definitely a nod to all of the above, a real feel good, balls out, Rock ‘n’ Roll, tune.
