Goldnwolf – Lone Wolf
Goldnwolf was created in a city that keeps you indoors and breeds creativity. Seattle, Washington. Home to fresh coffee, sarcasm and a desire to step away from the norm to create a unique path that one may call their own. Inspired by all different aspects of life and sound, the group brings an emotionally anthemic vibe to each song with an undeniable aggression that carries its message even through their most upbeat avenues.
The band was formed in 2016, when Austin Robert (formally of Girl on Fire), Nicholas Wiggins (formally of Aiden) and Jake Jones (formally of New Years Day) wanted to start a fresh outfit that could bring life to a new generation of music. Not only to appeal to their broad spectrum of already devoted listeners but to release something from their own creativity that resides where there are no wrong answers. By removing all limitations one would find while attempting to fit into one of many boxes of genres, Goldnwolf decided early on to break the mold and go with what they felt, creating a completely unique sound of their own.
All of the members bring a broad musical sense and experience to the table in order to form a well thought out musical blend ranging from rock, blues, electronic, and pop. Their willingness to learn and grow has been part of their philosophy since the beginning, never second guessing where the next sound may take them. The group had accidentally stumbled on its recipe to give each song its own personality by removing any fear of mistakes. Being in the moment and allowing the music to carry the listener to its destination is how each song finds its place. Like a small piece to an incredibly beautiful, yet unsolvable puzzle.
Having released their first single, “Lone Wolf” that was mixed by Jean-Marie Horvat (Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, The Weeknd etc.) and mastered by Dave Kutch (Bruno Mars, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Whitney Houston etc.) on April 20th, 2017 and the music video soon after, Goldnwolf was ready to debut via live performance. On May 13, 2017, at the Columbia City Theater in Seattle, Washington, working with local craft beer giant, Elysian Brewery the group did just that. Promoting themselves and their show every way they can from guerrilla tactics on the street, creating a heavy online presence on various social network platforms, to an appearance on Seattle’s alternative radio station, 107.7 THE END’s podcast “So You’re in Seattle” with Gregr. The group performed their debut headline set in front of a sold out crowd at the one hundred-year-old theater, featuring their recent release along side a whole other hours worth of material. Smiles ruled while folks in the audience sang along to songs they were hearing for the first time, not to mention the groups acoustic cover of John Lennon’s, “Imagine”.
The Wolf is often symbolic of creativity, intuition, compassion, intelligence, and loyalty, while gold has been associated with the Devine principles, wisdom and both good and evil. Influenced by their love for their own truths, their music speaks to awareness, acceptance and enjoying life with everyone around us. Even during their heaviest moments, the group is able to maintain a light heart after throwing the listener into the fire. These are artists that are forever driven, passionate, and focused on their ultimate goal of a graceful and endless potential.

deM atlaS – Bad Loves Company (The Visual EP)
Produced entirely by Ant, the beat-making half of Atmosphere, the project will be available worldwide October 19, 2018 via Rhymesayers Entertainment.
deM atlaS’ new album Bad Actress is only the latest in a string of releases–including the 9-song EP DWNR that, according to Pitchfork, “splits the difference on ‘depressed’ and ‘party mode.’” In some ways the new work feels like a debut, not just because it’s his first proper LP, but because it represents the culmination of a twisting creative path that Turner’s patiently been following since his teens. He was a poet, a painter, and the frontman for a rock band before he found his space in Minneapolis’s prolific rap scene. Once there, a philosophy of saying yes to any opportunity that passed his way quickly led him from playing shows for nugs of weed to a showcase in front of Rhymesayers CEO Siddiq, and a single recording session with Atmosphere beatmaker Ant that kept going until they’d made almost an entire album together.
The title Bad Actress comes from Turner’s inability to hide his true feelings, and he’s packed the album with unguarded emotions centered around a lifetime of unhealthy relationships, struggles with mental illness, and an indomitable drive to overcome them. Musically it draws from every stage of Turner’s young career, from the high school rock singer to the scruffy DIY-er who self-recorded his Charle Brwn EP while figuring out the basics of Garageband to the confident, versatile vocalist he is today, equally at home crooning and screaming as he is rapping over beats by heavy hitters like Ant and MF DOOM.
From the grime-caked beats to the confessional lyrics to the supercharged guitars laced throughout, Bad Actress is an album that’s deeply rooted in Minneapolis’s singular hip-hop scene, where boom-bap never went out of style and raw honesty still beats flashy materialism. Turner’s soulful singing voice, and his ability to navigate from the acidic Sly Stone funk of “Gratitude” to the acoustic balladry of “Music Man” to the purple-tinged minimalist gospel of “Runnin Back” make it clear that he’s one of the young talents who’s going to author the next chapter in the city’s storied musical history. After all, an atlas isn’t only a collection of maps, but a man who’s strong enough to carry the weight of the whole world on his shoulders.

Astrobal – Australasie (ft. Laetitia Sadier)
French electronic producer Astrobal has announced his forthcoming ‘Memories of Stars’ EP via German label Karaoke Kalk, combining psychedelic soundings with a soft pop. He is already previewing the lead track ‘Australasie ft. Laetitia Sadier’. The accompanying video was produced by Patrice Curtillat (a.k.a. Poborsk), whose fantastic illustrations flow over the geography of Australasia, as clouds of drones and satellites float in the sky, before inevitably diving in a kaleidoscope from where one emerges on stellar landscapes, where colors and hybrid forms blossom like mechanical insects.
Astrobal is the solo project of Emmanuel (Emma) Mario, who burst onto the scene in his native France through collaborations and production work with some of the country’s most cutting-edge artists, including Laetitia Sadier, Arnaud Fleurent-Didier, Holden, Institut, Monade, Hyperclean. and Iko Chérie. It is no coincidence that the Stereolab songstress should feature on ‘Australasie’, as Emma Mario’s work as a producer and drummer for Laetitia Sadier has left an enduring legacy, rendering some of the most singular work from the iconic French chanteuse.
Mario has produced several Laetitia Sadier albums ‘The Trip’ (2010) and ‘Something Shines’ (2014), as well as the latest ‘Find Me Finding You’ album from Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble, all three albums released through Drag City. He’s been extremely busy this year, touring as part of the Ensemble and sometimes even opening the show as Astrobal.
“Our blood runs hydrous with the seas/The essence of oceans spills through our veins.” Laetitia Sadier matter-of-factly unfurls these words on the opening track and they prove prescient. Astrobal’s wispy, French-accented vocals intermix with Sadier’s enchanting voice as she delivers spiritual and scientific information about the universe as if engaged in a shamanic incantation.
“Emmanuel became a long-time collaborator and he’s very good at working with other people, but there was also a desire to do his own stuff. He was kind of doing it before he started working on this project, but then I guess he found his focus and made this incredible piece of work,” says Laetitia Sadier.
“From one track to another, you’re transported to very different countries, but it’s also very familiar to Emmanuel, and I find that to be a real strength: to have such a variety of different styles, but still be familiar and to have some similarity. He reaches really far out to find certain tracks and to bring them back to a whole.”
The album is aqueous, each track a slow wave building, with clean lines and fluid form. Symphonic strings and ethereal ambient washes are married to buzzing synths and Astrobal’s crisp, crackling drums. Though eclectic, Astrobal presents a cohesive vision, with the guiding principles of texture and fluidity uniting the disparate threads. Astrobal creates a universe one can swim around in – from start to finish, the particular mood always beholden to the vibe. One leaves his dream world having lived a unique experience laced with sonic and solar dreamy.
Karaoke Kalk was founded by Thorsten Lütz in 1997. By releasing music that bridges several electronic genres, including minimal, ambient, and techno, this niche label is helping to define the sound of contemporary pop.
Karaoke Kalk has put out records by Bill Wells, Hauschka, Toulouse Low Trax, and many others. Karaoke Kalk also co-released Astrobal’s debut full-length album ‘Australasie’ with LA-based Plug Research in June of this year.
