Beauty in Chaos – The Delicate Balance Of All Things (Rapid Reiteration Mix)

Beauty in Chaos has today released their new video for the remix track titled ‘The Delicate Balance Of All Things’ (Rapid Reiteration Mix).

We also have an exclusive interview with Michael Ciravolo, Wayne Hussey, and Cinthya Hussey on how the video came to be and how it was filmed while staying safe in the age of COVID.

Check out the entire interview HERE.

‘The Delicate Balance Of All Things’ (Rapid Reiteration Mix) and video is clearly a massive departure for BIC in both video and audio realms. The video, for one, was shot remotely using an entirely different crew in Brazil and, besides the obvious that Beauty in Chaos’ Michael Ciravolo is not in the video, the departure is in the style and execution.

The track is even more of a complete departure stylistically from what has come before. Now featuring Cinthya Hussey on lead vocals, Wayne on background vocals, and astonishing guitar work by Nick Johnston, is a stellar mix of darkness, suave, and the world, in places you would never expect. The bass gives off an almost ‘Peter Gabriel’ vibe at times before snapping into place in lockstep with the beat that, at times, drags you into the hook but in a good way.

To me, this is an almost Pink Floyd level shift sonically and visually that gives a hint that Beauty in Chaos is becoming comfortable at being different.

ABOUT BEAUTY IN CHAOS & ‘THE DELICATE BALANCE OF ALL THINGS’ (RAPID REITERATION MIX) FT. CINTHYA HUSSEY

The original version of this song, penned by BIC curator Michael Ciravolo and The Mission’s Wayne Hussey, appears on ‘The Storm Before The Calm’ album. Along with BIC producer Michael Rozon, Ciravolo set out to strip down the ominous tone of the original especially for this remix release. After hearing Wayne’s wife Cinthya’s rendition of The Smith’s ‘Everyday Is Like Sunday’, the idea emerged for her to sing this new version along with Wayne.

This remix was created by legendary producer Tim Palmer (David Bowie, The Mission, U2, The Cure). BIC main-man, Michael Ciravolo says “Tim has always been one of my favorite producers … and one of the silver-linings of this lockdown is that he has time to do this and two other remixes for our new album”.

Far from being a typical band, with its revolving/evolving lineup, videos are truly the ‘face’ of BIC. Ciravolo’s goal is to make each visually different from its predecessor and this new video certainly checks that box!

“When we returned the track, the delicate balance of all things, to Michael with Cinthya’s newly-completed vocals, Michael’s reaction was to declare he loved it and that we had to shoot a video for this version, remixed by the redoubtable Tim Palmer,” said Wayne Hussey.

“With the option of traveling to LA to shoot out of the question due to current Covid-19 restrictions, Cinthya, being in the trade somewhat, contacted a few of her colleagues to ascertain who exactly might be interested in helping us shoot a video in Sao Paulo. Enter the Antipodean Mark Bromilow. Mark and Cinthya had previously acted together on a Kit-Kat advert and had remained friends. The many credits to his name include time spent as artistic director for Cirque De Soleil, where he met the Brazilian Natalia Presser, the featured aerial artist in this video.”

“Locations were scouted, Cinthya having the idea of filming in an old theatre or abandoned warehouse – somewhere strange – while Mark came up with the idea of filming in a currently-closed-down-due-to-Covid circus in Sao Paulo. So the Big Top it was. Using David Lynch as inspiration, we aimed for the video to evoke something otherworldly and magical. So, how did we do?”

The full 27-track collection of the ‘Out Of Chaos Comes…’ LP (available on CD) is deep and diverse and comes with a few surprises, including Ashton Nyte’s gorgeous acoustic version of ‘The Outside’, and an acoustic/mellotron drenched ‘Memory Of Love’ from Human Drama’s Johnny Indovina. There are also some new and fantastic guitar moments from Simon Hinkler (The Mission), Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses), Mark Gemini Thwaite (Peter Murphy. The Wonder Stuff), and Nick Johnston.

‘Out Of Chaos Comes… is now available on vinyl (8 tracks), CD (14 tracks), and digitally (27 tracks). The full digital version is included with an LP / CD purchase. Limited-edition colored vinyl also includes an exclusive cover-art poster, signed by many of the artists involved. It can be ordered in its various formats HERE.

Davey Woodward And The Winter Orphans – Bad Day

Davey Woodward And The Winter Orphans have premiered their new video for the track titled ‘Bad Day’. Capturing that quirky magic of the music, the video for ‘Bad Day’ gives that alt-rock bravado combined with the first-person perspective in a slow energy style grit guitar fiasco that is the signature of creativity. This is a new anthem for a new age. Let’s hope the title doesn’t carry over (lol).

‘Love and Optimism’ is out now, available on limited edition white vinyl and black vinyl, on gatefold CD with a booklet, and also digitally. It can be ordered via Bandcamp.

ABOUT DAVEY WOODWARD AND THE WINTER ORPHANS

Bristol indie music legend Davey Woodward and The Winter Orphans present ‘Bad Day’, the latest single from their ‘Love and Optimism’ LP. Best known for his bands The Brilliant Corners, The Experimental Pop Band, and Karen, they recorded this album ‘live’ in the studio. A very personal collection, this is Woodward’s most emotional performance, putting Davey solidly amongst the best songwriters of his generation.

Davey Woodward and the Winter Orphans play alt folk, often intimate songs set in Bristol. Sometimes they get into drainpipes and pointy boots ‘New Wave’ mode. ‘Bad Day’ is one of those moments.

Nobody visits. I’d like someone to stay
In my single bed with my microwave
I’m having a bad day.

“Imagine a time when putting together the best cassette compilation ever (Today it’s called a playlist) was the sole purpose of the day. Getting it right would mean the difference between a good day or a bad day. It was also the best way to impress girls and show your mates how hip you were. A time when dreaming, looking cool, and disregarding the rules was everything. Decades later and life catches up, poverty, broken relationships, broken families. You could make a playlist but who would you send it to?” says Davey Woodward.

Ahead of this, the band previewed two singles – ‘Occupy This Space’ and ‘Warm Hands’, which could be a soundtrack to a David Lynch movie. This is pop music for grown-ups loaded with dark mysteries of desire and loathing, melody and lyrics that stick in your head.

‘Love & Optimism’ is the band’s second collective long-play, following their 2018 self-titled debut album, released via Tapete Records. On both set of recordings, the band wanted to capture that elusive live magic and spontaneity that is often lost by today’s modern recording techniques.

Davey Woodward first came to prominence with his 1980s band The Brilliant Corners, part of the jangly indie C86 scene, but with a diverse palette of indie pop, country, rock n roll, post-punk and humour. The mini-albums ‘Growing up Absurd’, ‘Fruit Machine’ and ‘Whats in a Word‘ brought the band to the attention of the music press and wider public, followed by their best-known album ‘Somebody up there likes me’ (1987), several John Peel sessions, indie chart success and regular tours. In 2013, Cherry Red Records released a retrospective of the band’s work ‘Heart on Your Sleeve’ (A decade in pop 1983-1993)’ to much interest.

Woodward’s next band The Experimental Pop Band (1996- 2012) was again championed by Peel and signed to City Slang Records, enjoying critical acclaim in the UK and Europe, and performing at Glastonbury.

In the last decade, Davey has released a handful of solo LPs, including the lofi folk pop album ‘6 miles east of here 5 miles north of nowhere’ (2011). He also recorded with alt guitar band Karen, releasing several EPs on The Environmental Sounds label.

The album was recorded in Summer 2019 prior to the Covid 19 pandemic and the tragic events that led to Black Lives Matter, but strangely it is still relevant to these times. ‘Occupy This Space’ seemingly captures the whole feeling of ‘Lockdown’ and the song ‘Clara’s Ghost’ is partly about the history of Bristol’s involvement in the Slave Trade. Just a few months after it was written, Bristol residents pulled down the Statue of Slave Trader Edward Colston in the center of town, making worldwide headlines.

The Bramantes – Calling

The Bramantes have premiered their new single titled ‘Calling’ on Jammerzine. That smooth, almost lofi, sweet sound from that dynamic duo from Canada has that sweet, certain something that captivates the ear and shakes the rear. But what may impress you without realizing it is the mix. The mix is brilliant. There is more in the background than you realize. But you also get that slight but powerful hook. That hook is spread throughout the song in a gorgeously stretched fashion and by the time the song is over, you want to hit play again.

ABOUT THE BRAMANTES

Hailing from Toronto, siblings Abigail and Eli Bramante (professionally known as The Bramantes) are a dynamic duo crafting pulsating music mixing jazzy vocals with electro-house and neo soul production. Such eclectic influences come from a rich upbringing in the arts, with heavy inspiration coming from their parents who are involved in visual arts. Abigail’s love for singing began as a young child when she would perform in children’s choirs.

That love led her to win singing competitions in jazz and musical theatre and eventually auditions for America’s Got Talent and American Idol. Eli’s love for music production developed after sitting in on his sister’s studio sessions. He took it on himself to learn all there is to know about producing music sound engineering and mixing, but his inspiration transcends aural realms. Fashion and visual aesthetics drive his creative processes and are muses when creating atmospheres and moods in the songs he embodies.

After signing on to Cash Money Records and collaborating with Grammy award-winning producers, The Bramantes forge their own path with their upcoming single “Calling”. The follow up to last year’s single “Wonder”, this second offering from their upcoming debut EP hearkens on an irresistible rhythm section reminiscent of GoldLink’s 2017 hit “Meditation” while rich vocal harmonies give the track unique jazzy undertones. It pulls listeners through times of confusion, helping them find their purpose and motivating them to pursue it.

Candy Opera – Tell Me When The Lights Turn Green

Candy Opera has released their new video for the track titled ‘Tell Me When The Lights Turn Green’ from the new album ‘The Patron Saint of Heartache’. With a broad cinematic scope, Candy Opera lends broad and beautiful visuals to their soundscape. And the song itself is one of those future memories in that the hook is evident and instant with a subtly intense set of guitars and soulful weathered vocals.

‘The Patron Saint of Heartache’ LP is available on limited-run green vinyl or limited-run black vinyl, CD with booklet, and digital download. It is available everywhere, including Bandcamp.

ABOUT CANDY OPERA

Liverpool’s rejuvenated songsmiths Candy Opera present their new single ‘Tell Me When The Lights Turn Green’. A carefully crafted, country-esque ballad that perfectly expresses Candy Opera’s new sound for 2021, reflecting on all our yearnings with openness and candour, this song has all the sensibilities of a classic ballad.

This is the second single from their new album ‘The Patron Saint of Heartache’ (released on November 30), their first collection of new material in nearly three decades. This long-awaited debut album is being released via European / UK label A Turntable Friend Records.

As with the first adrenalin-fuelled single from the album, ‘These Days Are Ours’, this reflective look at adversity was mixed by Grammy award-winning producer Guy Massey and recorded at Liverpool’s Elevator Studios and mastered by Pete Maher (Barry Adamson, The Alarm).

“The song is about trying to find a pathway through life and the realization that the waters will always be muddied but, with determination and desire, the human spirit can pull through and flourish,” says singer-songwriter Paul Malone.

“We all chipped in on filming the video… a big challenge in the pandemic! The water scene is a depiction of change from the old Candy Opera to the new… a kind of baptism or rebirth representing where we are now as a band”.

Candy Opera were formed in Liverpool in 1982 and went through various incarnations before calling it a day in 1992. By 1985, the band had played alongside the likes of The Pogues, The Go-Betweens and The Redskins, as well as appearing on Granada TV. Reviews in NME, Sounds, and Jamming magazine followed.

The band’s current line-up is drawn from all eras of the band’s existence and features Brian Chin Smithers (guitar, vocals), Alan Currie (drums), Frank Mahon (bass), Paul Malone (vocals, guitar), Ken Moss (guitar) and Gary O’Donnell (keyboards, vocals, percussion).

Following the overdue release of two archival sets – ’45 Revolutions Per Minute’ and ‘Rarities’ (released in 2018 by Firestation Records – their new album ‘The Patron Saint of Heartache’ picks up where the band left off, with 14 fresh songs ready for discovery of a sound as timeless as any Candy Opera output.

‘The Patron Saint of Heartbreak’ captures the essence of Candy Opera’s infectious energy and celebrates life with a genuine wander-lust, whilst delivering the excitement of their live performances. There is a musical and spiritual depth and breadth here, from the knockabout naïve rockabilly of ‘Hashtag Text Delete’ to the quiet acoustic reflection of ‘Freedom Song’. It is clear that every song has been painstakingly crafted in order to earn its place in this body of work. This album holds a mirror up to the lives people lead and all the triumphs and heartaches endured.

This new LP also features a swathe of friends and contemporaries, including Paul Simpson (The Wild Swans) and Phil Jones (Afraid of Mice). The result is an exquisite piece of pop craftsmanship that brings their songs into the light. This is a labor of love born of experience, but retaining the sense of wonder that brought the band together in the first place.

Araya – Color Palette

Araya has dropped his new video for the track titled ‘Color Palette’. A smooth groove mix of gazed out guitars and a lazy swagger, ‘Color Palette’ gives that laid back bravado with a suave sense of the feels and everything in between to make this a feel good track for this year of healing.

ABOUT ARAYA

Araya is a Brooklyn based, Thai-Chilean singer & songwriter, whose introspective lyrics covering themes ranging from inclusivity to identity coupled with his serene vocal ability has already garnered the attention of various blogs and magazines, (Paper Mag, Fashionably Early), distribution companies (United Masters flagged Araya as an emerging artist and featured him on their collaborative Apple Music and NBA playlist, Base:Line), and playlisting placements (TIDAL Rising: Pop, was made the cover of Dummy Mag’s R&B, Pop & Soul Spotify Playlist).

Araya’s main focus this past year has been perfecting the musical aspect of his artistry and more specifically, working tirelessly on his debut LP, Atlas, which is slated for release in January of 2021. The lead track ‘Color Palette’, a track that pays homage to the importance that design plays in Araya’s world, will be available on all digital streaming platforms on January 5th. The 14-track album includes released tracks ‘Gemini’ and ‘World’, as well as tracks such as ‘Baby’ and ‘Muay Thai’ which take the listener on a journey of introspection.

Born and raised in Long Island, NY, Araya has long dreamt of pursuing a career in music. Having written songs from the age of 10, Araya uses music as a medium to comprehend and channel his emotions into reflective tales of self-acceptance and understanding.

“I think my music is mainly inspired by curiosity to forever learn and further investigate certain parts of myself that have led me to a deeper understanding of my place here. I think music has provided me a space to dissect my thoughts and experiences in an organic way that is lasting. The drafts of both my perspective and choices come to represent me and my journey.”

After a brief stint attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, Araya came to the realization that although his time in college had allowed him to form meaningful relationships with like-minded creatives and hone his artistic talents in fields outside of music such as photography and graphic design, ultimately remaining in a college environment wasn’t conducive with Araya’s lifelong ambition of sharing his sound and identity with the rest of the world.

“Atlas is my personal map/guide to self-discovery; each major event, revelation, and freedom has led to furthering ever-changing versions of both myself and my art. As the project neared completion, I had felt like a weathered superhero amongst my own set of avenger accomplices; I had just felt so comfortable, confident, and able. It wasn’t until I stepped out of the way of my own self; put my worries and anxieties aside to nurture my dreams that I felt able to feel an honest safety in myself and my people. Finding this sort of “Eden” right under my nose in my own strengths and special qualities is the first major thing I hope to pass on to my fellow humans floating through this universe. It’s all inside of us and we’ve always been enough, that’s how I and my art feels existing right now.”

Morgin – Inna Dat (Ft. Boosie Badazz)

Echoing the sounds of EnVouge and Cardi B. Morgin is the fast-rising R&B infused Rap artist hailing from Birmingham AL. Starting off in 2018 with freestyle videos in her car, she decided to take music seriously.

Morgin wrote her first song in 2016, which was inspired by altercations with her high school boyfriend. Starting Her senior year, she began to write more & more, but never told a soul; it was 2018 when she decided it would be her “pop-out” year to start releasing music.

Keeping close confidants of her mom and BFF’s she uploaded her first music video, by the next morning there were over 2000 views.

Morgin’s lyrics reflect on her everyday life growing up in Birmingham. From “Haters, baby daddies & growing up (in her own words) ‘that b*tch’ in the hood”. On her IG stories, she always shows love to artists like “Nba YoungBoy” who is one of the artists who inspire her, because of his age & success, along with Cardi B “She inspires me because no one believed in her and she still made”.

The first song she released, titled “No Hook”, was dropped on her Youtube Channel along with a visual. Morgan says she wrote the song the morning of the studio session, and that the song is based on true events that happened prior to recording. She is currently working with J.Reid the producer, who reached out to her via Instagram, after seeing her freestyle.

Morgin said that Reid hit her in the DM & told her she was dope. She reminisces on telling him that she wasn’t making any new music at the time because she didn’t have a recording studio in Alabama. “He told me I was too hard to not be making music, we set up a date for me to come to Atlanta & we have been locked in ever”.

Lakes – Pine Barrens

What began as drummer Matt Shaw’s acoustic demos back in 2017 quickly developed into a six-piece band, bonding over a love of artists like American Football, Minus The Bear, and The Appleseed Cast. The group has taken influence from mid-western emo, math-rock, and alternative indie and combined those with Fleetwood Mac style dual-vocal pop melodies and twinkling glockenspiel to create their trademark “Glock-Rock” sound.

Earning their stripes in pubs and clubs of the Watford music scene, Lakes have been emboldened with a DIY attitude that was born from the frustration of life on the peripheries of a capital city. The group’s fiercely independent attitude has led them to record all their own music, produce their own music videos, and with families of their own – organize child-friendly matinee gigs in their hometown.

After self-releasing their first two EPs, Lakes joined The LP Cafe in the UK and Friend of Mine Records in Japan to release their debut full-length album in August 2019 entitled “The Constance LP”.

This led Washed Up Emo to label them “your new favorite band” and Punktastic to include them on their list of the most important bands of the next decade stating “it’s hard to look past their potential as future frontrunners of the UK emo scene.

With nods to midwestern emo giants in American Football and Braid, Lakes create a truly unique take on the genre interlacing shimmering glockenspiels, beautiful harmonies, and pop sensibilities in everything they do.”

The album was recorded entirely by drummer Matt Shaw in a spare room using a couple of mics and a PC over the space of a year. With no timing or financial restraints that would come from a proper studio, the band took their time crafting the songs and discovering their sound. This has resulted in a truly unique album, one that is completely holistic in its presentation with band members also taking control of photography, graphic design, web design and accompanying music videos.

Lakes’ ‘This World Of Ours, It Came Apart,’ was released in July 2020 via Know Hope Records in North America and The LP Cafe in the UK.

Clemont – Sunset (ft. Holy Mattress Money)

Growing up in Bridgeport, Ohio, Clemont fell in love with music through the influence of her father, a guitar player who always had music playing in the house. Being surrounded by stacks of records from a young age gave her a deep appreciation for the rhythm and soul of music that would set the foundation for her pursuit as an artist.

Living in a small town, she always felt like an outsider—more often staying home recording demos on her karaoke machine than going out. These early recordings eventually blossomed into what would be her first official EP, ‘In The Beginning’, produced by Jesty from Holy Mattress Money.

As an artist, Clemont sees herself somewhere between the sugary whimsy of Doja Cat and the blue wave laid back charm of Mac DeMarco; earning her the reputation of being equal parts dance-ready and heartfelt at the same time.

The ‘In The Beginning’ EP marks her transition from bedroom pop hopeful, to a deep pop R&B goddess—growing as a songwriter by drawing on familiar influences while taking bold new steps that hit all the right keys.

She gets inspiration from every facet of life whether it’s the good, the bad, looking at the past, or contemplating the future, closing chapters, or starting new ones. Kate Clemont likes to share time between her hometown and her sweet new spot in West LA where she retreats every year. In The Beginning is out now on Declared Major records, available on all major platforms.

Sunset was written during an odd time in my life. I was adjusting to a new chapter, going through the motions of anxiety and depression, swapping and trying different antidepressants, and generally going through a bit of a rough and stressful patch.

During this period of time, I became really reminiscent of my past, which was a happier time for me. It was something that I held onto to remind myself that I was in love with life once- which really gave me the strength to push through my hard times because I knew that I could, and would, feel that way again.

With this song, I wanted to paint a picture of appreciating simplicity during hard times. When life gets crazy, sometimes we need to step away, take a deep breath, and do something blissfully simple like sitting on a roof and watching the sunset.

This EP is really special to me. Music has been the core of my existence since as early as I can remember. It all started when my parents bought me a keyboard when I was little. I taught myself to play by ear, and would always make little songs and skits to perform for my family.

As I grew up and life began to change, I used music to cope. When I couldn’t make sense of my feelings or the things I was going through, good or bad, I would put that strange energy into a song. Turning my hardships and emotions into art was, and still is, beautiful to me.

Sharing my music with others made me feel extremely nervous and vulnerable at first, and although I still get that feeling from time to time, it ultimately makes me feel strong and proud of my work. The songs on this EP are short stories of my life. They’re like little pieces of me that set the stage and help to describe the person I am today. They detail what I consider to be the highest of highs and the lowest of lows of my journey through life.
