Traveller – All This Time

The summer of 2012 saw Gerry Sheridan and Simon Usher begin their songwriting partnership, which progressed to become Traveller in January 2016 when they were joined by Martin Yves on guitar and Brian Socha on bass.

By spring 2016 the band had written and recorded their debut EP at Chamber Studios in Edinburgh. Taking just four days to complete, ‘All This Time’ enabled Traveller to connect to an ever-growing fanbase who are drawn to their Anthemic Rock wall of sound.

Gerry started out playing violin and piano focusing more on Classical music before teaching himself guitar and concentrating his efforts on more contemporary music; his songwriting is influenced by bands such as The Stereophonics, The Beatles, Crowded House and Travis.

Simon started playing the piano and taught himself both the piano and drums from an early age by listening to artists such as Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Elton John, Sting, Pink Floyd, Crowded House, as well as Coldplay and U2. Drummers such as Steve Gadd provided the initial inspiration for him to focus on his writing and playing.

Martin remembers seeing his dad play the harmonica that sparked the inspiration for him to dedicate himself to music and a lifelong appreciation for all styles of music though he’s particularly passionate about the late sixties to early seventies Rock, especially the sonic experimentation and sound of Pink Floyd.

Brian’s influences are very diverse from Rock and Pop to Jazz, Funk and Soul, from Frank Zappa to Pink Floyd, Brian’s bass playing provides a solid foundation for the band’s music.

“There’s a sonic harmony that is often created by the band during rehearsals and it’s often from this that sparks the imagination to write” explains Simon. “We write about life’s journey, from the people we meet along the way to all the various experiences that we have, both good or bad…”

An Interview With A Shoreline Dream

Talking with  Shoreline Dream was a complete joy. I have to start this out by saying that. As a musician myself, Ryan and Eric epitomize the namesake of musician in the truest sense of the term. They are not out to impress anyone, they are out to connect. They don’t label their music for anyone, they leave their music up for your interpretation. As far as music itself goes, this is how classics are made. And today we talk to both of the main components that is A Shoreline Dream, and in turn, get a glimpse into the minds behind the music. Enjoy!

Check out our review of their latest single ‘Room For The Others’, which was released July 14th, 2017. Buy links below.

About A Shoreline Dream
‘Room For The Others’is the fourth single from their ever-evolving new album, which is being released digitally one track at a time, before the full vinyl-only album is finally ready. After fine tuning the song over the winter months, it has become a favorite for the duo to play, partially due to the resonance of the song’s message.

The song deals with the struggle to come to terms with, and attempting to overcome, the biggest fear in life…change. With the recent loss of close family and friends, A Shoreline Dream frontman Ryan Policky has instead taken those potential negatives and turned them into a message of personal reflection.

“Given the nature of all the amazingly overwhelming things going on these days politically, socially, etc., this track became a personal reflection on it all. Both the good and the bad. The love and the sadness,” says Ryan Policky. “I found myself feeling emotions from all sides of the spectrum, and room for the others is just that… a spectrum of emotions. This song goes out to those who may have ever felt just a little bit of place… who just wanted to stand in line with the rest.”

While the original wave of shoegazers chose textures and otherworldliness over conventional clarity and 90’s post-rockers opted for progressive and fluid structures rather than traditional form, A Shoreline Dream are the keepers of both of those flames. Delivering a heady cocktail of dream-pop, shoegaze, neo-psychedelia, goth and progressive rock, the new single also brings a gothic undertone set against a pulsing, energetic rhythm and is, on the whole, more in keeping with northern European atmosphere than the warm sidewalks of Denver’s suburbs.

A Shoreline Dream, comprised of Ryan Policky and Erik Jeffries, originate from Barnum, Colorado. Their music is often referred to as “progressive shoegaze,” indicating their blending of lush sampled textures, organic instrumentation and vocals layered like a synth. But it is the studio’s final treatment of the song that is the real joy, affecting a cavernous production style, and haunting and ethereal resonance in keeping with the semi-lucid and sonorous nature of this music.

While A Shoreline Dream have not re-invented this particular musical wheel, they have certainly re-treaded it, painted it interesting colors, and added some shimmering gloss before taking it out for a spin, ultimately leaving multi-colored vapor trails throughout the neighborhood.

Over the past 10 years, A Shoreline Dream has churned out numerous acclaimed releases under their own label (Latenight Weeknight Records), working with legends such as Ulrich Schnauss, Mark Kramer and The Engineers (for whom they remixed a song for progressive label gods K-Scope). They also opened for Chapterhouse for their final appearance.

“Room for the Others” by A Shoreline Dream is available through iTunes and can be ordered via Bandcamp.

Hegarty – I Only Dream In Black & White

Completely pondering and out of the box, Hegarty’s new single titled “I Only Dream In Black & White” is a modern melancholic guitar driven melody fit as the soundtrack for any road trip. By taking a hook and melding it into catchy chord progression, the band successfully achieves that perfect moment when a song becomes the soundtrack to that perfect memory.

About Hegarty
Hegarty was formed in 2014 when David Hegarty, Waka Stafford and Chris McKeown decided to record a few songs they had been working on together. Igga Cousins then joined and soon after recruited Alex Tweedle along the way to make our line up complete and it hasn’t changed much since. Things have gone really well for us so far and we’ve had a fair bit of airplay on many radio stations including local Liverpool stations, going national in Scotland and even international in USA and France. Our debut album is now complete and new single “I only dream” was recently released with

Exclusive: An Interview with Simon Mason of Hightown Pirates

Some people have the ability to take themselves to heights that others can only dream of. And still others have the uncanny ability to take themselves to heights that others can only dream of, after taking themselves to the edge of the abyss. And that gives some of us not only the ability to strive even harder still, but the reflection in which to appreciate the scope of such and achievement. Simon Mason is the later, to say the least. Just read his 2013 autobiography “Too High, Too Far, Too Soon”and you will see what I am talking about.

Fast forward to 2017. Simon, in record time, forms Hightown Pirates, writes and records a very solid album (review HERE), and generates a name for the band as one of the freshest in indie for 2017. That talent only comes with a deep personal reflection. And today we talk about that talent, and so much more with Simon Mason. Enjoy!

Hightown Pirates’ debut album, “Dry and High”, was released June 16th on Strike-Back Records.

Check out our news piece on Hightown Pirates on our TV show “Jammerzine’s The Week in #Indie” HERE and on Amazon Prime.

Iguana Lovers – Surfing Caos

Iguana Lovers are a shoegaze/psych/indie band from Argentina who were formed in 1990 in Buenos Aires by founding members Ariel Soriano (guitars and vocals), Ivan Mirabal (guitars) and Javier Accossatto (bass). The line up now also includes Gabriel Diederle (tambourine and machines) and Alfredo García Kalb (drums).

They recorded Universo their first album in 1991, which had a limited run on cassette format. They managed to create a whole new movement within Argentine rock music called Sonic Movement of Buenos Aires and were positioned as the new, independent band of the Buenos Aires scene. With the characteristic groove of Madchester bands of the era and the use of loop pedals they created their own sound that allowed them to take their Rock and Roll of irreverent guitars to the dance floors. The bands sound was defined by the experimentation, sentimental and ethereal vocal melodies, mixed with distorted guitars.

Iguana Lovers have played at some huge festivals and gigs alongside New Order, Ian Brown, Peter Hook, Mark Gardener and Loz Colbert of Ride, Inspiral Carpets, The Jesus and Mary Chain amongst many more. They released four LP’s: Universo, Esencial, Psicoclash, Surfing Caos and ten EP’s. since 1990.

Surfing Caos
The album was recorded between Buenos Aires, Manchester and Oxford and includes guest performances from Martyn Walsh (Inspiral Carpets) on bass, Adrián Yanzón (Los Pillos) on vocals and Loz Colbert from Ride on drums. Ride’s Mark Gardener then took charge of mixing and post production at his studio OX4 in Oxford. So now you have ten solid shoegaze/psych/indie killer tracks, as Iguana Lovers go from strength to strength!

Surfing Caos will be released on July 14th, 2017.

Kids On Bridges – Just Because You Can

Fresh from a support slot with Grammy Award Winner Beck and shows with The Hot 8 Brass Band, Soulwax and Calvin Harris, the Liverpool trio unleash a new single ‘Just Because You Can’.

The track is a heavy pounding Stones groove akin to ‘Undercover of the Night’ with a Gang of Four riffs thrown in for good measure, giving Kids On Bridges a unique sound, one that is so fresh you could eat it!

The band’s versatility has seen them described as somewhere between Mutemath, Two Door Cinema Club , !!! and Daft Punk.

Kids On Bridges are currently heading back over to America where they are going to finish work on a brand new album and have drafted in Eagles of Death Metal bass player Jennie Vee to join them on a number of tracks, along with New Orleans poet Chuck Perkins.

Having previously worked with The Chemical Brothers producer Steve Dub, the new album promises to be a sonic assault!

Although the guys are certainly no strangers to having great guest performances on their releases, the last single ‘Say Ok’ featured New Orleans drumming legend Zigaboo Modeliste of the Meters.
The band also found themselves nominated for best Alt video at the Paramount Awards in Hollywood for the single ‘Something in the Water’.

2016 saw the band head out to America to perform a sold-out show at The Viper Room after legendary station KROQ picked up the track ‘Walls’, they were also honored to be the UK representatives at last years Special Olympics in LA performing alongside Stevie Wonder.

With excellent performances at Wickerman, Bestival and Ibiza Rocks, the future couldn’t be looking brighter for the Wall of Sound champions!
