Sami is the type of artist that holds the world in his heart and wears that heart on his sleeve. ABOUT ‘THIS MAJESTY’
This Majesty was written in Amboseli National Park, Kenya shortly after the passing of Sami’s older brother Joshua. The production team felt the video for this song needed to be filmed in the most stunning and grandiose of locations of India, including Nahargarh Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the Taj Mahal.
Sami’s Personal Notes about the song: I remember my time in Kenya so very vividly, waking up in the morning to the most beautiful sunrises and gazing off into the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro. When we lose the ones we love we feel an emptiness. I am reminded constantly that those who have gone from our lives are always with us. In our triumphs and failures, in our happiness and grief and in all the magical moments we continue to experience.
ABOUT SAMI CHOHFI
While Sami Chohfi is a Brazillian-American singer/songwriter based in Seattle, he is undeniably a modern citizen of the world. His upcoming solo debut, Extraordinary World, was written across six countries over the last two years. From his journeys across Cambodia, France, India, Kenya, and The Philippines as brand ambassador for the clothing line Be Good to People® to touring with his band Blue Helix across his family’s native country of Brazil, Chohfi’s songwriting takes a rock upbringing and spins it with musical influences from around the world.
His upcoming single, “This Majesty” is arguably one of the album’s most personal examples of how travel seeped into his songwriting, written in Kenya’s Amboseli Park in the wake of his older brother’s passing.
“He loved climbing the highest mountains and I was constantly reminded of him as I gazed upon Mt. Kilimanjaro,” Chohfi adds. “In my experience from the many cultures I have been exposed to over the last two years, most believe that when we lose someone we love, we never truly lose them. I don’t think I will ever feel like those I loved and lost are gone from this place… we carry them with us.”
With a video shot at world-renowned sites like the Taj Mahal and breathtaking footage of India in a pre-corona world, Extraordinary World serves as a timely reminder that, in Chohfi’s words, “all people just want to fit in, beloved, and be understood.”

Jammerzine’s The Week in #Indie for 12/9/2019
This episode from Jammerzine features exclusive interviews with Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records’ artist Fea and Crooked Ghost’s Ray Clark. Premieres from Aidan & the Wild, Beatific, Beauty in Chaos, Chinese Man, Scratch Bandits Crew, Baja Frequencia, Greta Jaime, Johanna Kuvaja, The 1865, and The Black Watch.
About Fea
Fea is one of those bands who will get what they work for based on the caliber of their music. I can say this because it is evident all over the exclusive interview above. Formed by friends who developed into a family, Fea is one of those tight bands that are lockstep in sound and unified in ambition.
And, in this interview, we get the entire band! With the perspectives of all four, we get the story behind the band, their new album titled ‘No Novelties’, their upcoming video for ‘Girlband’ and, importantly, the methods and meaning behind the music. Fea shows they are not only a band that will last but will thrive.
Fea’s latest album, ‘No Novelties’, is out now via Blackheart Records.

Ray Clark is a musician that knows what he wants and is constantly learning and executing the steps on how to achieve as such. And, what he wants now, is for the world to listen to his band Crooked Ghost. Their latest EP titled ‘Colors Bleed‘ is a solid set of original material that really lets the creativity and diversity of Crooked Ghost shine.
Today we get to talk with Ray, frontman for Crooked Ghost, about their beginnings in North Carolina and their new music as well as his new side project with Alex Cannon titled ‘Blank Iris‘, which Ray describes as the ‘soundtrack to a breakdown’.

Beauty in Chaos has officially dropped the first video, titled ‘The Delicate Balance of All Things’, from their upcoming album ‘The Storm Before the Calm’. The song is a definitive evolution of the project’s previous album and remixes, with a darker tone and a subdued penchant for the musically macabre with hints of retro goth. You can also definitely see how the working relationship with Michael Ciravolo and Michael Rozon has evolved as they are branching out with their individual creativeness and finding that common ground where genius lurks and originality thrives.
To me, the video is the next step for the project as it involves familiar faces taking things into new directions with a video that is darker in tone, to match the track, and a brilliant mix of storyline scenes cut with performance shots beautifully breaking the fourth wall. In a way, this is what Beauty in Chaos is to me; that subtle balance between fantasy and reality, because this is where dreams become the motivation in us all.
‘The Storm Before The Calm’ album will be released on February 21, 2020, via 33.3 Music Collective. As with the two albums released to date, it will be available at the official BIC Store and Bandcamp.

Beatific finally drop their long-awaited EP titled ‘Sunshine’. We originally reviewed their single ‘She Loves Him’ and that was the moment the anticipation began. With the full EP ‘Sunshine’, we get a more complete picture of what Beatific is about and want to accomplish.
Those thick and blended harmonies of the lead single are expounded upon with the rest of the EP present. With added instrumentation such as a serenely played acoustic guitar riff in ‘Perpetual Contemplation of an Infinite Glory’ to the almost retro-esque synth wave of ‘Smile Dangerous’ finalized with an almost purely orchestral rendition of ‘Naftali (My Struggle)’ with a hint of an homage to M83, Beatific solidifies their style and puts forth their intention in the industry as an act that is not only here to stay, but here to play.

https://orcd.co/qkly5eoAbout Aidan & the Wild
Aidan & the Wild premiere their new video for the track titled ‘Pipedream’. At first listen one can usually tell if the music is performed by talented musicians, and ‘Pipedream’ certainly is. Aidan & the Wild is the brainchild of Diederik van den Brandt. And that first listen tells me that he is an amazing guitarist and a prominent songwriter. This song is simply gorgeous. And, while the video is simple, it is quite eloquent and fitting for the track at hand. With a crooning vocal over a tight and layered piece of music, Aidan & the Wild accomplish a quiet sonic bliss that stays in the mind long after that initial listen and captivates the heart for years to come.

Chinese Man, Scratch Bandits Crew, and Baja Frequencia drop the mega-collab in the form of their new single and video titled ‘The Drop’. I’ll start this by saying ‘Holy shit this punches you in the face from the start!’. And it really does! Like a force ghost hell-bent for revenge, ‘The Drop’ starts off strong with all those elements you love about each of these artists colliding like a crossfire of shotgun blasts and only goes up from there. This song is an ode to adrenaline.
What I take away with me after viewing the video is totally tongue-in-cheek, in a way. What I mean by that is I get the feeling that the video is trying to convey that we are all controlled by the environment around us and our emotions and perception are defined by what we experience or told to experience. The pool and the diving represents a choice. Do we jump and take the dive into independence and rationality knowing we may not survive the fall, or do we stay on the diving board and remain listless, suspended and non-moving. The choice is up to each and every one of us.

Greta Jaime releases her new single titled ‘Internet Love’. I have to say that Greta’s voice is simply amazing. You can tell she has that special talent that all great vocalists have in that she finds the pitch and plays around it with sheer power and honest emotions. And, when you place her over a solid beat, bassy rhythm, and hook-filled chord progression, you have musical magic. ‘Internet Love’ is one of those catchy and memorable tracks that lingers with you and grows on you with a fondness only given to those things that are cherished.

Nordic vocalist Johanna Kuvaja has unveiled the colorful new video for her debut single ‘Shower’, an upbeat catchy single with a style sounding like the personified love child of Aqua, Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue.
Written by Kuvaja, the single was mixed and mastered by award-winning London-based producer Sefi Carmel, who has been mixing music of real icons such as David Bowie, Phil Collins, Bruno Mars, Michael Buble, Massive Attack and Birdy. The song itself was recorded in Helsinki, Finland at Saumaa Records by Mikael Forsby, who also provided instrumentation.
“This video symbolizes new beginnings. I had a colorful, messy life with many problems (deteriorating health, loss of my house, marriage, and job), but I am also a really colorful personality. The meaning of the video is that we have the power to recreate ourselves and to rewrite our story. Figuratively speaking, I took a shower, washed away my past and started fresh. I followed my heart and recreated my life and it all worked out,” says Johanna Kuvaja.

https://soundcloud.com/johanna-kuvajaAbout The 1865
The 1865 release their new video for the track titled ‘John Brown’s Gat’. For those who do not know, John Brown was a man living in the 19th Century who believed that no one should be enslaved. He believed in this simple truth so much that he turned to the gun. And he paid for it with his life. So it is of special importance that The 1865 to shed light on such a figure, especially in today’s age of conflicting stories.
The track and video are simple and to-the-point. Which is how it should be. The truth is the same way. It cannot be denied. If you watch the impeachment hearings you can see this. The obstructors tend to speak more, and louder because the truth is hard to fight. John Brown would be a fan of The 1865 if he were alive today.
The album ‘Don’t Tread On We!’ is out now, available digitally via Apple Music, Spotify and directly from the band via Bandcamp, as well as numerous other online stores. It is also available on black and red vinyl in a vintage style jacket with a lyric/coloring book.

https://music.apple.com/us/album/dont-tread-on-we/1448751051About The Black Watch
The Black Watch drops their new single titled ‘Crying All the Time’. The song starts off like a rocket hellbent for space with a chiming, bright, and tube-like guitar riff that sets the tone for business as the beat marches with steady velocity. This song does not mince words yet retains that style that only comes from The Black Watch. But I have to say again that this is a guitarist’s song as that is what sets the tone for me. Layers of that classic grit surrounding the lucid and subtly harmonic vocals announce the song to all those that are listening. This is a ‘stop what you’re doing and pay attention’ type of track.
As of November 22, ‘Crying All The Time’ is available across music stores and streaming platforms such as Spotify as well as Bandcamp. The full ‘Brilliant Failures’ album will be released on January 24.

Deleo Releases ‘Mythomania’ (The Week in #Indie Segment)
Deleo drops their new single titled ‘Mythomania’ on June 19, 2020. By the first listen it is apparent that Deleo has that certain something where they can show that they’ve not only found their sound; they’ve crafted it. And crafted it in such a way that they are recognizable within those first few precious notes; within the timespan, it takes to grab the attention of even the most casual of listeners.
‘Mythomania’ has that beautiful hook that forces one to hit the quick rewind a few times just to recapture that initial ‘aha’ moment. There is nothing more perfect than to be introduced to a band or artist with such a track.

After the tantalizing foretaste of the toxic ballad ‘Unfair’, Deleo continues to distill the fruits of its 4-track EP with a new teaser in anticipation of the EP’s release. This time, with ‘Mythomania’, the Montpellier-based group reveals a more prickly and Rock side to its sweet poison.
The track begins innocently enough: a simple Folk guitar rends the air – I wouldn’t say ‘vulnerable’ since it’s a bit fast, a bit tense, but subtly – and then a few seconds later, a futurist city suddenly appears and you’re like rats. Watch out if you’re in the front row seats! Rats, but as lovely as the sounds of the dolphins in The Big Blue soundtrack by Eric Serra. Dolphins, but like androids that dream of electric sheep. Industrial dreams, tubular bells, and layering inspired by Archive’s Londinium, the dystopia of Blade Runner and The Fifth Element are all there. When it reaches the bridge, it all suddenly stops in the space of an instant: hypnotic, something expands naggingly and creepily like Radiohead’s ‘Dollars and Cents’. An impression of overlooking the underworld of Gotham or Dark City. With Emy Eris, the fire dragon and Daenerys, who spreads her wings with the passion of youth.
Yes, this new song by Deleo is a veritable short film. A tricky single – but what an experience and what a cliffhanger at the end! Once again, the maestro of British producers James Sanger (Suede, Dido, Keane, The Cure, Manic Street Preachers, etc.) had a lot to do with it.
With this second single, Deleo shows its Rock influences. It makes defining their music elusive while it is still firmly Pop. The reason for this? The band doesn’t know either! Far from being binary, they have multiple facets that sparkle like a gem. Corporeal yet radiant.

Neena Rose
To say that aspiring artist Neena Rose is a more powerful and passionate lead vocalist than many singers twice her age wouldn’t be an exaggeration. Hamilton-born, Neena Rose at only 16 year’s old has been called an “amazing young talent, incredible vocalist and witty lyricist” by 80 Empire of Universal Music Publishing Group, who produced and co-wrote the songs for Neena’s soon to be released R&B spiked’ EP, calling working with her a “sheer joy!”
Be it recording her first original song “Rock N Roll Lullaby “at the age of 12, produced and mixed by Diamond/Platinum producer Roy “Royalty” Hamilton III, performing for Oprah Winfrey at Copp’s Coliseum in front of an audience of 14,000 or being selected by CHCH TV to record the new theme song for Tiny Talent Time, Neena’s ardent delivery, her maturity, and unique style engages and inspires an immediate emotional response from anyone listening.

The Throwback Sounds Vibe touches every aspect of the musical genre out there! RnB/Soul singer Lawrence Preston echo’s the classic melodies of Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and Stanley Clark just to name a few. Infusing the best elements of jazz, funk, pop, hip hop into a unique balance diverse musical experience while maintaining a strong soul element. Lawrence’s vocal harmonies, funky bass lines, and fairly simplistic beats maintain the soulful sound throughout his songs. Gearing up for a UK tour mid- June 2018 he will without a doubt capture the attention of intimate club patrons with his elements of hard, lingering bass lines; with a touch of emotion-stirring guitar riffs with an authenticity that is necessary for soul music, it’s a jazzier, funk sophisticated taste.
Some background info on Lawrence~ A San Francisco native, Lawrence was born into a musical family, his parents had formed a gospel group, The Sensational Travelers, who rehearsed in the local church at which his grandfather was pastor. At the age of only five, Lawrence was part of another family gospel group, Fantastic Four, also featuring his father, a talented guitarist. Becoming known locally as “The Gospel Jackson Five”, he had now truly become committed to music, learning to play trombone, guitar and, his ultimate weapon of choice, bass guitar.
Aged 19, his musical skill was spotted by Sly & the Family Stone founder, Freddie Stone who in turn recommended him to “Oh, Happy Day” singer, Dorothy Morrison, leading to a significant period in the 1980s as the bass player in her gospel band. Taking his time to truly learn his craft, Lawrence emerged in the 1990s as an artist with a wealth of experience, recording his first full-length album in 1997. “Something for You” is Lawrence Preston at the peak of his powers, an artist for fans of classic soul and for those wanting to hear real musicianship and passion.

A chance encounter at Cook Children’s Medical Center is all it took to set Todd Barrow on his mission to revamp classic country with his signature modern twist. One day, an American Idol contestant was slated to perform for the patients at Todd’s place of employment, but the audio tech was nowhere to be found. When he heard the call, “Can anybody here run sound?” Todd answered. In walked Texas Music Hall of Fame Honoree Sonny Burgess just as Todd was setting up the live rig, and the two musicians struck up a conversation. Sonny told Todd about his work with Charlie Pride and Randy Travis, and asked Todd if he might lend his technical skills to help build the recording studio sponsored by Garth Brooks and Troy Aikmanhe that had in the works. This serendipitous encounter yielded a coffee meeting to review the blueprints for the project, and before long, Sonny was meeting Todd for coffee weekly to discuss music. Eventually, he became Todd’s mentor, forever changing the course of Todd’s career.
Now, Todd Barrow is making a name for himself as a country artist to watch. The Texas singer-songwriter has racked up more than a few accolades, from a PRSA Award of Excellence to an Akademia Award for Best Country Album, and an artist spotlight in Alternative Roots Magazine, American Pride Magazine and AVA Radio. He has appeared on television shows including Good Morning Texas with Jerry Matheny and Texas Music Café on PBS. He’s even shared the stage and studio with some of country music’s heaviest hitters, from CMA musicians in Miranda Lambert’s band to Fort Worth Producer of the Year Bart Rose. But it’s more than just Todd’s success to date that makes him such a compelling country artist. What’s most readily apparent in Todd Barrow’s music is his heart.
Todd’s music is no country for old men. While he undoubtedly draws his sonic influence from titans like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, his melodies skew modern. He plays almost every instrument, from piano to guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and drums, and the multi-instrumentalist doubles as a songwriter for himself as well as for other artists. “”If I can put a smile on someone’s face through song, well that just means the world to me,” he says. “I try to get to the real heart and soul of a song. To me, it’s not just words but a story, and I do my best to portray that with every line. That’s my main draw to country music; the stories, the people, and the sincerity that comes from the heart.”

Born, and raised in Toronto, Canada, 17-year-old Liv Mannara strives to introduce her indie, yet urban pop, high energy music, and strong vocals to many who are waiting to hear. Without Liv’s unique personality, humor, and style, her original songs would not be portrayed the same. This 17-year-old girl has worked with few producers but has “blown their minds away” with her exclusive ear, to countless incredible new sounds that soon will be discovered.
At the age of 14 Liv recorded her first original song “Perfect Touch” produced by producer Roy Hamilton III, then her second debut single “Free Fallin’” produced by Jovan Jovanov, which opened the doors into Liv finding her specific vibe of music she knew was right for her. She then was given opportunities to showcase her astonishing vocals at the Pan Am Games Opening Ceremony in front of an audience of 500 or being chosen individually to perform in front of an audience of 400, at the Taste of the 6ix. Liv is confident and passionate to release many singles on the way, yet her newest debut original single “Complicated”, for many to listen, and enjoy, however, to perceive the message behind it.
She is overjoyed and ecstatic to share her messages, her vibe, and her captivating voice for her supporters to engage in throughout this 2019-2020 year ahead. Liv is courageous, and fearless, to write about messages that impact her, however for many others that have experienced the same. Liv “can’t wait” to show the world what she has, through her love of music.

DuShane Band
Formed in late 2012, DuShane is a culmination of southern rock and country. The band consists of vocals, electric/acoustic guitars, bass, drums, pedal steel, violin, and keyboards. Formally of the band, Law and Order (MCA Records), lead singer DuShane brought up on the Nashville/Memphis sound but also uses his New York City roots to create their “Urban Country” Americana sound.
The Band is a blend of acoustic and sonic texture that is reminiscent of classic country and southern rock and shimmers with modern studio sounds and arrangements.
Tutored by friends and former producers Joe Hardy, Mac Reinhold, and Shane Keister, The DuShane Band was able to produce and engineer and record their first independent record. DuShane’s first single “Alabama Rain” released in early January 2017 has received receiving warm reviews and gaining popularity from fans with different musical tastes, and with a release of DuShane’s first music video for “Summertime” the band hopes to gain popularity with the country and rock fans as well as appeal to a broader global audience.
The band’s newest video, “Alabama Rain”, opens up with an anthemic intro that brings a familiarity to the song, comforting the listener as they brace for the story’s impact. The line, “Johnny turned 20’s from the poor side of town” kicks off the first verse, putting you in the main character’s shoes. DuShane completes the verse with, “One day he got married and found a way / He had a new baby boy and landed a job / without any skills had to work twice as hard, working the steel mills 14 hours a day.”
Then, tragedy strikes- the mill shut down. What’s more? There is a second child on the way. Without a job or pay to support his family, Johnny hit rock bottom. He was left with no choice but to enlist in the military to make ends meet. The video ends with Johnny coming home a hero, reuniting with his family, and the fulfillment of his promise that they would never know that “Alabama Rain.”
All in all, “Alabama Rain” is a song of hope. The Johnny character featured in the story is all too relatable for a large portion of the United States right now due to the outsourcing of jobs and the shrinking of the middle-class. The lyrics in this song can speak to the hearts of those affected by these conditions and serve as a point of inspiration. The fresh sound and undeniable relatability of this song is sure to hook country and Americana music fans, and we’re so excited to watch the DuShane band flourish with the release of this video.
